Is there a reset button? i put a new battery in with difficulty and it wont work. this is the casio g3011

This may have a reset button inside the back , maybe marked a.c. if it does you need to short it with metal tweezers between the battery and the a.c. button.

You're probably going to have to replace the complete guts. Lots of these digital watches have the little buttons on the sides of the case. Those buttons press small springs which makes contact with the button on the "movement". Be careful that the little springs aren't lost when you remove the movement. It's not hard to do, you just need the right parts. A small phillips screwdrive and a sharp probe makes things easier.
In some cases, you will need to force the stainless steel back past the rubber wrist band. These watches are nearly indestructible, so you can apply some force. Just don't apply it to the guts of the watch.

You don't say how old the watch is and whether it has always had a display problem. I have seen several watches with weak displays, but generally they are older watches and I suspect the problem involves a corroded contact somewhere in the "movement". You might want to visit the Casio website and download a copy of the manual for your watch. It may say something about the display. If you watchis fairly new it may still be under warranty and again, contact Casio to see what you need to do.

This may sound dumb but make sure the battery is in the correct side up. There should be a + or - symbol on top of the metal piece that snaps over the battery. If that's correct get a pair of tweezers and spread them open, and touch one side to the top of the battery and the other side down inside a little hole with ac marked beside it. That will reset the watch, and your display should come on.

This reset trick works with other Casio Alarm Chrono digital watches, such as my old Model W-720, similar to your F91-W. After the new lithium coil cell is installed and secured with the spring clip, the watch may show random segments in the LCD display or may simply be blank. Insert a sewing needle, paper clip, or blade of a small jeweler's screwdriver into the hole on the back of the movement stamped "AC" (All Clear) to momentarily connect the gold plated contact at the bottom of the hole to the stainless steel battery clip. The battery clip in most such Casio watches is connected to the "+" terminal of the coin cell. This will reset the CMOS chip and it should start up with the watch displaying 12:00 and the date at 1-1. Then, use the control buttons to set the time and date in the normal fashion.
