DVD LG SATA GH22NS30 can read Avi video files that were burnt (using Nero Burning ROM) on DVD-R 52X and 16X, but not on DVD-R 8X.

This isn't particularly uncommon on the hardware or software side. Some brands just don't particularly play with all formats on all speeds of media or all software and yes, sometimes it will burn but not play back. You can try to update your drivers but there's no guarantee that will work, but it's one of the few alternatives you have. If the recording speed and playback is that much of a concern, consider getting a new one from a different manufacturer.
You didn't mention what version of Nero you are using nor did you mention your Operating System is. These are important factors to consider as well. I had the full version of Nero 6 and I tried to run it on my Vista SP2 system. It didn't like it at all so now I just use the OEM version that came with burner when I bought the computer in 2009. You might want to try another burning software just to see if there's a difference.

A DVD is a form of storage media 12 cm (4.72 inches) or 8 cm (3.15 inches) across that can typically hold 4.7 gigabytes (GB) of information, enough to hold a three-hour movie at high quality, or ten TV episodes, or about 75 hours of .mp3 files, or roughly 15 hours of video in the lower-grade .avi format. The DVD is thought of as the successor to the conventional CD (compact disk). Common formats include DVD-R and DVD-RW, a rewritable version of the DVD.

How do you copy Youtube videos to DVDs using 123 Copy DVD Gold?

You usually download youtube vids as FLV files, there are plenty of free file conversion programs to change flv to avi or whatever format you want, you can then burn them onto a disc.
I have never used your software, so i am not sure if it handles flv files. If your dvd player will play avi/divx files, you could convert then to avi and burn them as a data disc using ant burning software, i use free software for this. CD burner XP and imgburn.
It sats this about your software..
  • Copy ANY DVD.
  • Burn YouTube videos to DVD.
  • Copy episodic shows like The Sopranos or *** and the City.
  • Autofit technology gives you the best possible quality.
  • Convert ANY DVD to DivX, AVI, Windows Media (WMV), and MPEG.
  • Burn videos downloaded from the internet to DVD.
  • Blu-Rays Upgradeable (Copy Blu-Ray Movies).
  • Copy DVD to Hard Disk.
So your software should be able to burn your dvd, there should be a HELP menu on the software.

Fit to disc

My apologies but I'm not familiar with the Ulead product you use but I hope what I've written below may be of some use

Fundamentally you need to re encode the AVi to a smaller file size. It seems odd to me that you have AVi files that are too big for a 4.7Gb DVD disc unless you are using a flashy front end. A simple way to convert with minimum input from you would be to use Any Video Convertor Professional to resize the AVi file to a more usable size. By decreasing either or both the Video and audio of the AVI within Any Video Convertor Professional this should sort your problem out. Just ensure you keep the aspect ratio the same if this is what you require.
There is a free version of Any Video Convertor
