Problem playing my camcorder disc on PC

I cannot find my camcorder VP-DC171W, the VP-DC161 is the same picture.
When I put the small DVD disc from my camcorder into my PC, my recordings come up as small icons in Windows media player, which is fine,I click the first icon and it plays okay but completely freezes when it comes to play the next.
The DVD disc plays okay on a normal DVD player. Hope this makes sense to you.

Windows media player is not the best for playing dvds. You can get other players for free that will support the DVD format much better for you.

Here is one of the better ones. http://www.avsmedia.com/download/AVSDVDPlayer.exe

Have you done any updates on your computer before the problem occured? looks to me the camera is fine since you can play the DVD's on a regular player. there is a strong possibility that some CODECs on your PC was removed or replaced (if you have played it on the same PC before).

you may try to:
play it on another computer
or
download the VLC media Player, this is what i always use for my DVDcamcorder.

get the VLC here:

good luck

I would make sure the computer will recognize the format of the video on the disc. You may be able to google to find some usable video codecs. I like to use VLC media player for this

I have a samsung vp-dc171w mini dvd recorder. I was told at the time of purchase that the disc would replay in a dvd player but none of mine play it. Is there an adaptor or something needed for it to play...

If your using DVD-RW make sure you format it in video mode. Do your recordings then when you want play them back on a dvd player you have to finalise the disk in the camcorder first.
If you want to continue recording you will have to un finalise the disk.

Viewing Discs on Samsung VP-DC161

RE; smasung DC 161(i) pal and possibly other models The reason why there is no disc message when there is definitely a disc is installed is because the disc programming has malfunctioned, Its because of Samsungs poor design, after powering up the camcorder and inserting a disc, the disc will load and a green flashing light appears for a minute or two while loading if the Samsung camcorder is switched off while loading the camcorder will essentailly self destruct and their is no remedy, however that does not mean the Samsung is completely useless, the camcorder can record on a 4 GB SDHC(max 4GB) card using the switch from disc to memory card

Have you finalised the disc ? Go into the menu and where you format the disc there is an option to finalise. It should then play on your laptop. Hope that helps ;)
