He can't get to the OSD menu! The problem is that the brightness menu comes up as soon as you plug in the Monitor. The power button does work to turn it off and on. But pressing anything twice will get the menu to come up to pick VGA, HDMI1, HDMI2, ect.

Hi,

While in the On Screen Display Menu the Icon second from the bottom contains settings for OSD timeout, you want to get to this function and set it to 20 seconds.

This is a link to the online PDF manual, go to page 18 for more detail on accessing and using this setting.

On page 19 is the information on resetting the factory reset functions. Do this, if you are struggling with the use of these buttons, read the manual for assistance. The manual is something you can read and reread and may help you immensly in getting to these controls.

On the last page of this online manual is the contact information for Hanspree and they have a toll free numberr. Wait until the weekend is over before calling. If anyone is working the phones on a holiday weekend they are low on the seniority list. You may or may not get good service on weekends.

My hannspree has a yellow light on and the screen does not turn on

I would first suspect a power supply issue in the monitor, it would require at the least opening the set and looking in the power supply for signs of damage, if its a year or two old look carefully for puffed up caps.

If you are not able to safely get it apart have a tech look at it for you.

In case you do get it open here is what bad filter caps look like, if find that they are fairly easy and inexpensive to replace.

Have Hannspree 205 HF running Windows XP Pro. Display has shifted to the right, and I can't get it back to center. Any suggestions?

Turn the Hannspree-brand monitor on using its remote, then press "Menu."
Press and scroll the down arrow button to highlight "Setting." Press the right arrow button to enter the "Setting" menu.

Press and scroll the down arrow button to highlight "Aspect."

Press and scroll the right arrow button to change the aspect ratio from "Auto" to "Full," "Normal," Panorama" or "Zoom," depending on the type of image that you want to see on the screen.

Press "OK" on the remote control. Press "Menu" twice to exit the menu settings.
hope it helps

I have a HF289H An electrical transformer in the neighborhood caught fire. When power was restored the monitor would not power up. It is connected through a surge protector and all componants leading up...

It may have damaged the power supply(PS) and a fuss is possible, but you may not recognize the fuss on the circuit board. Open up the monitor and take a look. Also take the Number down off PS and look-up on line. A used/refurbished PS. eBay a good place to look

While I was using my hannspree hf289h, it just turned off and won't power up anymore. Is it broken, or can I reset it or something?

christerfred, I would think that if it TURNED OFF all by itself, and no matter how many times you push the on/off switch it remains in the OFF state, I certainly think it's BROKE. In fact I think that the "switch-mode-power-supply" may be in permanent SHUTDOWN mode. Here is a clue! When strange things happen to an LCD display, the first place to look is the power supply, be it a SMPS that lives on the floor or resides inside the plastic case of the monitor. I have worked on a few LCD displays and repaired a few of them. But I have never come across a magical "let it work" reset button. If Hannspree won't do anything in the way of warranty work, then go watch some of the longer video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD repair" @ YOUTUBE just so that you will know what is up with all the LCD monitors (all brands) that now have BLACK and LIFELESS lcd panels. Also do a visit to www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm and www.badcaps.net for additional info. You will also need to do a search for the "LCD flashlight test" to evaluate the state of your Hannspree SMPS. After doing the above, get back here and tell me what you want to do. If you feel that the information received at fixya was helpful, please rate this response at fixya. I'm louie12fix on fixya bye for now.

Onscreen controls don't respond

You have five buttons at thee right-hand bottom of your screen (just under thee edge). They are (from
left to right) the Main Menu button, the Down button, the Up button, the Input button and the Power
button (under the light).

To adjust your screen press the main menu button. Once the main menu screen is up, toggle
through it using the Up/Down buttons. Once you see what you want to adjust, move over to the
right side of the menu by pressing the Input button. Now use your Up/Down buttons to highlight
what you want to change. Once it is highlighted, press the "Input" button again. Now use the
Up/Down buttons to adjust your settings.

Once you have adjusted the settings, simply press the main menu button to exit.
