No screen on dimension 3100

PC seems to power on but the screen never illuminates. I know the monitor is good. Its as if the unit is in screen saver mode. Next to the usb ports on the front panel are illuminated numbers 1 3 4. Also it seems as if no usb ports are providing power. The mouse does not illuminate any more.

Any help would be much appriciated.
Keith

You have a serious problem. probably the board as a result of lightning or electrical surge.
unplug and open box. look carefully for small burn spots any where on board and cards.
dis connect power supply from board.
diconnect your hard drive from power supply and board.
reconnect everything and plug in and try again.
sometimes it will reset itself and start up again if nothing serious.

Screen is pink on my dell dimension 3100

Check your monitor cable first! Try reconnecting your display cable both at the computer and monitor ends. If it's still pink, try reinstalling the vga graphics driver from the Dell Utility CD-ROM (Or download from Dell's support site http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/dimension-3100/drivers then select you PC model's video driver and re-install it. if after re-installing the video driver your display's still pink, try connecting to a different monitor - if a different monitor displays correctly, then its your monitor that's faulty. If it's pink on a different monitor too, then it's your PC video hardware that's got the problem - At least you'll know whether it's the monitor that's faulty or whether it's your computer's graphics hardware. (if your computer's video chip is faulty, then I suspect you'll need a replacement motherboard - $$$ - as I think the video is "on-chip" on the Dimension 3100 - so it may be time to consign it to the scrapheap and buy a new system if you can afford to)

I have an LG L1952HQ LCD monitor that shuts off every 5-10 sec. it's not the PC going into power saver or srceen saver mode

greatatuin1, Tell me the "date of manufacture" from rear of unit!! You may need to inspect the units power supply printed circuit board or black-brick switchmode power supply. Is power supply "lay on floor" type or internal to monitor case? Is your pc working ok with "differerent" monitor?? Have you been to youtube to watch "refurbishment" DIY videos of cold cathode-fluorescent-lamp back-lit lcd monitors??? If unit is really old and has lots and lots of "on" hours, you may even need to replace the CCFL lamps also. Tell me more info, so I can advise you. Symptom seems to be "black screen of death" !! Have you performed or even know the "flashlight test" that every ccfl lcd monitor owner should know??? Do additional comment back to me. 12fixlouie

Monitor goes through a rainbow of colors when shut off; till power shut off.

Try your monitor on other desktop or laptop, if the problem persist - change the monitor or borrow one and try it on the same computer as it could be your video card. hope this helps...

Dimension E521 stuck in power saver mode

OK, I am sorry to say that it seems to be more than I thought. Here is a link to a forum where other people are having the same problem. I expected it to be a setting but this sounds like I'm wrong. I sure wish I could be more helpful. Here's the link though. Good luck, I know how frustrating it is.

I want to watch a movie on my pc but it goes into sleep mode 20 minutes into the movie. How can i change the settings. It displays (auto input interjection) how can i change it?

Turn off your screensaver from your desktop settings, and modify your power control settings from within control panel. Alternately, you can make a conscious effort to move the mouse every 19-1/2 minutes. I think I would change the settings.
