Floating dialog box is the monitor's self test. Your monitor tests good. Your computer is the problem.

Have you tried to put a disk in the floppy drive when it starts up?
It probably had a disk in before last close down, and is looking for it now when you start up.

SOURCE: dell monitor dialog box says monitor is in the power save mode

Actually, it most likely is not the monitor which is in "power save mode", it is the computer itself.

When you cannot get a computer out of "power save mode" by any other means, typically the cause is that the button-cell-type battery of your computer, which is located on the motherboard, is empty.

Usually, this happens on a computer which is a few years old, since its batteries will have run out after such a long time. (The motherboard battery is used to store various settings when the computer power is off, such as date and time. When your computer detects this battery is empty, it goes into a low-power mode).

The solution is to replace the button-cell battery on the motherboard of your computer:

  • open the case of your computer;
  • visually locate the motherboard (the main electronic circuit board) of your computer;
  • visually scan the motherboard for a button-cell battery (it looks like a digital watch battery, but a bit larger);
  • remove this motherboard battery from your computer;
  • restart your computer: it should now power up normally (you may get some warning messages during the start-up sequence, but ignore them);
  • set the date and time of your computer using the "Date and Time" control panel;
  • you can now use your computer normally, but you will lose date and time settings when you disconnect the computer power cord, since there is no motherboard battery present to store them;
  • take the motherboard battery to an electronics store and get a replacement;
  • install the new battery in your computer;
  • restart your computer, and set the date and time again; the settings will now be saved using motherboard battery power.

When i turn on my Dell Inspiron 2400 Desktop Computer why won`t it start.

Is the computer plugged in to a known good power source with a known good power cord? Also, make sure the power is fully seated on both ends. When you press the power button are you getting any indicator lights? The power button itself has an LED that will be either solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber, or off. Do you hear any beeps?

Dell latitude e6400 wont boot has black screen

Restart your computer and then press and hold F8 keys until you get Advanced Options menu screen.Use the arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, and then press Enter, your computer will boot automatically to safe mode.
If you able to start in the safe mode then Scan your computer for viruses. Some viruses can cause a black Screen , especially ones that infect the master boot record (MBR) or boot sector.
- Update drivers for your hardware. black Screens are hardware or driver related so updated drivers could fix the cause of the STOP error.
- Check for registry issues
If it didn't helps you then simply get the system utility program like PC Fresher that will fix windows errors that cause of black screen screen

Windows Xp won't start

The most common reason a computer won't start can be a piece of hardware has failed or is causing a problem but that hardware isn't usually a hard drive, the part of your computer that stores all of your files. To fix such kinds of issue, you can take the following steps.1.create a bootable usb or cd ,there are kinds of software for you to complete this step, you can choose Fix Boot,EasyBootDisk or Windows Boot Genius. I suggest you to useWindows Boot Genius, it is easier and more effective.2.boot your computer from the created disk3.fix the issue after run the softwareBy the way, before any further steps you should make sure the power supply is good. Any hardware issues such as pc power and cable,motherboard corrupted should be troubleshooted.I don't suggest you to try the solution above until you are sure there is nothing to do with the hardware.

My dell inspiron 545S won't load. gives me error #25

It' most likely that your hard disk drive is defective. Try to boot from a CD\DVD disc, if it does, you have a problem with your hard drive.

Black screen right after dell logo

start tapping f8 after you boot the machine, when given the boot menu, try to load safe mode, and see if it loads. if it does, then you need to do a system restore back to before you got the black screen. more than likely windows loaded an updated driver that disagrees with your system. try that and let me know what happens :)

The dialog box you are seeing means that the monitor is not receiving a signal from the computer.

check your cable going from the monitor to the computer. if the cable seems ok, hold the power button on your towerr until it turns off, then wait 5 seconds and push the computer power button again.

The 123 lights on tower translates as:

Disconnect the video cable from the computer and see if you get floating color bars on display. If not, your monitor is defective.

You have a rootkit virus, the only answer is reformat the drive and start fresh, sorry.
After a fresh install is done immediately install service(can be downloaded free from microsoft.com) pack 3, because sp2 is vulnerable to a host of trouble.
