Turn the 'lock/friction ring' (metal band just below the black rubber focusing ring) counter clockwise whilst holding the focusing 'ring' still. The friction/lock ring is used to prevent 'lens creep' when carrying the camera with lens pointing down, or using the lens when it is pointing down. Juust turn it until it applies the level of friction you prefer for operating the lens. If you have already tried this and it won't budge it may be the bearings are shot and you will need to contact a canon service centre for repair.

Service slr lens

Unless you have a lens collimator and other equipment necessary to ensure proper alignment when reassembling the lens, don't do it yourself. Take it to a camera shop and have a properly trained and equipped professional do it.

80-400 NIkon won't zoom on NIkon D700

Not if your other lenses work ok. I would contact the Nikon Repair Depot that cleaned it.

Which 300mm zoom lens is best for nikon d90?

That depends on what YOU consider "best". Do you want the sharpest? The fastest? The lightest? The least expensive? Only you can decide which one best suits your needs.
I have a D90 and the 70-300mm VR lens. I consider this the best for my needs but it may not be the best for yours. You might want the lighter and less expensive DX 55-300mm VR, for example. Or you might want the 80-400mm for its greater zoom range. Or you might want the faster 200-400mm.
Again, only YOU can decide what's best for you.

MY CANON EF 100-400MM USM LENS WON'T ZOOM PAST 150MM

Is the lens tension adjusting ring too tight? Try loosening it and see if you get increased travel. If so, you may need to have it checked out.

No lens lock on a Sigma 135-400DG, falls to full extension.

buy the glass that does not zoom via push pull - When they get old and sometimes right off the shelf new the push pull zooms get loose - the only fix is for you to have it serviced and even then it is a temporary fix as the very nature of what you do to use the zoom will ultimately cause the same problem to occur.

Nikon 80 - 400 vr, have to pull lens out to zoom, does not work by rotating zoom ring, does not go down to 80mm, goes to 86mm

Try sending it to PhotoTech Repair Service in NYC. They are Nikon authorized, and can do the repair under warranty if you still have it. Also if you join they're facebook page, they will give you a 10% discount.
Here is the facebook page link, it has everything you need to send it in.

The better lens? Zoom that is 3.5-5.6 or one that is 3.5-6.3

I can't remember which one is which, but I do know that the lens with the later model number has considerably better performance.
