I cannot download my photos onto the computer even though I have downloaded the Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk. My camera is Canon PowerShot A570 IS

  • graceguarino Aug 02, 2008

My Canon PowerShop 720 is only a few weeks old and I have successfully downloaded photos to my MAC computer until today. Now the computer cannot see the camera. I have followed all the instructions and when I double-click the icon to download pictures, I get a message saying that no camera has been found. Is this a common problem and how do I resolve it???

I have this same problem but my camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XT and I've lost the software for it. I have a memory card for it and the USB cord to plug it int, but my computer isn't recognizing my camera.

You dont need the disk. You can just connect your camera to your computers usb port and download your pictures then save it like a normal file.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Trouble with downloading photos

The card reader doesn't care what camera took the pictures, so you can use it with any camera (assuming the card itself fits).

Camera wont tranfer images to computer

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

Batteries on our A570 drain within hours. Defective camara or?........

If you are using the camera to download your photos to your computer that is probably the problem.
Get a cheap USB card reader and take the card out of the camera and use the reader through the USB port on your computer.
It will behave exactly the same as using the camera except your batteries will last much, much longer.

Well, no matter you photos in Canon camera got deleted, formatted by accident or became inaccessible due to camera memory card errors. Chances of recovery is possible as long as you take the right action.

Take a try of this software to recover Canon photos, Not only general photo formats, but Canon RAW photo formats (.cr2 or .crw) can be retrieved easily.

Note: before the photos are recovered, Never should you attempt to take more photos or save more data to the memory card in case chances of photo recovery might be reduced. Hope it helps. Regards.

Canon A460; Downloading pics to computer

I have the exact same camera and all I did to put my photos on the computer was plug my camera into the computer using the USB cable provided. A wizard window should pop up and click on import photos. If that doesn't work, then I'm not sure what to do. I have windows Vista, by the way.
