Upgraded my dell inspiron 1545 from vista to windows 7, now my web cam doesn't work nor will it let me install the original drivers? I've tried the root clean up and connecting a usb cable, no luck

The hard drive has failed, or windows 7 is not compatable with the laptop. Try installing vista, if this works! there is a problem with windows 7, no change! have the hardware checked for possible replacement.

Upgrading your laptop OS from Vista to Win 7, you have to reinstall your Bluetooth drivers for Win 7 OS(ie x86bit or x64bit) for the Bluetooth to function properly.

Under "Network" -> Select your correct Bluetooth drivers versions for your OS Win 7 (i.e. x86bit or x64bit) to install.

Go to www.dell.com and at the bottom of teh page select "Drivers & Downloads" under "Support".
Once in the support section select "Support for home users"
In the next page select laptops > Inspiron laptops > Inpsiron 1545
Then it will ask for an OS, select the windows 7 and when you find your driver it will give both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. This should fix your issue.

In windows7 there is not any problem with the drivers. so don't worry about drivers. in windows7 with dell notebooks there is not any problem with web cams in rear case.

and if u are getting problem than uninstall the drivers which you have installed and download the latest dell web cam drivers by visiting

and after downloading and installing the drives . for testing install web cam software such as youcam or any one else related or make any video call with messange

Try installing the driver from the Dell WEB site.
You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, thesupport download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop,better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages,the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operatingsystem. There is no Windows 7 driver available yet for your webcam from Dell but the Vista driver might work. And then install the software. Before running it you can right-click on the icon and run the software in"Vista compatibility mode" under the properties tab. The driver should work on Windows 7. If not you will need to wait for an updated driver from Dell.

This can be very frusturating but you can go to Dell's website and download the software that controls the "hotkeys" and reinstall free. Click on applications, and download/run quickset program. See link below:

This page is specifically for your laptop and has all the original drivers. You may want to bookmark it for future reference.

open your my computer, click on "c" the system will tell you the information is hidden, click on the link and open up the operating system and look in the drivers or there in C and se if you can find you web cam driver, when you find it you might have to force the opening of the driver to install, and once you do that plug your web cam in and see if the system see's it and installs the drivers for the cam, if you installed the driver origanally witht he web cam installed you will have to remove the web cam and unistall the driver and re install it and then plug the web cam back in, and that should help correct the problem.

If you haven't reinstalled vista then the web cam should be listed in the control panel under scanners and cameras. If vista has been reinstalled here is a link to the web cam driver
