When your phone hangs, remove the battery, wait for 10 secs, again replace the battery & switch on the phone.In some cases after switching on the phone, you may have to reset date & time.

if hanging? try to reset the phone first (type *#7370)
updating the mobile using nokia software updater is not so reliable coz it never back up all important data such as pm,rpl as well as the securities and other necessary data that can provide by a gsm gadget...
check if the pc recognize the mobile...
be sure you have nokia pc suite too so that the mobile drivers will be recognized.
If the phone hangs then please take it to a service center and get it serviced there... even after the service if it hangs, then fight for a replacement.... Because Nokia N8 and E7 series comes with replacement warranty if you are not satisfied with it...
There are somethings you need to know before you decide to do a Master Reset:
The changes that you have made to settings and the content you have added or edited will be deleted.
If you select Reset Settings the changes you have made to the settings will be deleted.
If you select Reset All
in addition to your changes to settings, all contacts, messages,
personal data and content that you have downloaded, received or edited
will also be deleted.
To reset the phone:
> Settings > the General tab > Master Reset
> Reset Settings or > Reset All
When the instructions appear > Continue
if it asks for code then enter 0000 default code Note: If you select Reset All content such as melodies and pictures that you have downloaded, received or edited will also be deleted. always use fixya to fix your problem.
Take your SIM card out. Make sure your phone battery is fully charged. Press * 3 send at the same time and turn the phone on. Keep them pressed until the reset screen appears. Give it time to reset.

do a master reset and master clear on the phone....if problem persist you should take the phone to a professional mobile tech or store and have them reflash the original frimware or an updated one on the phone.
