My JVC GZ-MG77u displays the message "Video Management File is broken. To record/playback video, recovery is required.I click yes yet it still doesn't work. How can I fix this?

Video HDD recovery is possible as long as nothing has been recorded over the original images can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it’s not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.

I have a JVC GZ-MG330. Today I was recording, and then got the "video management file is broken to record/playback video. Recovery is required. Recover?" I have replied OK, it goes to recover, and when it...

Do not be that worried, in this case you still have chance to get back those video chips and you may need video recovery software to help, here are some programs you may rely on. Both programs can also recover photo and music files.

Video Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Video Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

Tips:
Take the memory card or stick out and connect to your computer via a card reader. Before your videos are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the JVC memory card or stick in case the original files(your videos) are overwritten.

JVC G-z-mg365bu video management file is broken to record/playback video. recovery is required recovery

For broken files, everio will prompt you to recover once switched on. If you mean deleted by accident, you can use file recovery software like Final Data Enterprise and a lot more. Mostly can be recovered, sometimes 80% or 90% of your total recording. Good Luck

this is the link to the manual you need. I am not sure which is the closest one to yours but probably any in the GZ-MG range will be very close.

click on one of the pictures that mostly resembles your camera and it will take you to a menu that is more specific for that particular model. to the right you will find the download for the manual. under PDF format.

I hope this is of help to you. Any other questions please feel free to contact me again.

ps: below is a link to the manual of a version quite close to yours but by all means check out the others.

Video recovery on JVC Everio GZ-MG230

Hi, gliedt13.
Good news is that you have much chances to perform video recovery from JVC video camera. BUT the first thing you should do is STOP taking more videos with your JVC recorder.
The next step should be - take more recovery programs to rescue the videos. here are some that should help you out.
For Windows --> File Recovery Software
For Mac OS X --> Video Recovery for Mac
1. Connect your camera (memory card) to a PC or Mac which has installed the recovery program. 2. Scan for the lost video files. 3. Recover them easily.Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to the recorder memory card until you can recover your files safely!

Can't transfer videos from JVC Everio camcorder onto my MAC

Share: How to import .tod files from JVC Everio HDD Camcorder to iMovie?

Requirements: iMovie (Part of the iLife 08 package)

Step 1: Connect the Everio to the Mac (Via USB)
Make sure you are powering the Everio from the mains before connecting your JVC Everio Camcorder.

Step 2: Playback on PC
Select “Playback on PC” on the Everio, once connected you will see the Everio HDD symbol appear on the desktop. The video files on the Everio are stored in the SD Folder/PRG***/MOV***.MOD.

Step 3: Open iMovie
Once you open iMovie, you will see that it recognizes the Everio straight away and will attempt to import your video.

You are now ready to use iMovie to edit your video files.

If need change .tod files to common video formats like mov, mp4, m4v, mpg, mpeg, dv, flv, avi, wmv, 3gp, mkv, mp3, aac, wma, m4a, etc. Mod Tod Video Converter for Mac is a good choice. The program can also convert mod tod to ipod, mod tod to iphone, tod to apple tv, tod to blackberry and more devices!

Video management problem

sounds like you need to "recover" the hard drive.

Only other option you can try is to reset the camera.

Broken video management file/ recording failure

Although the instructions don’t make it clear, it seems to be important that the camera is turned off before you connect or disconnect the USB cable. The instructions do mention that you should not delete or rename files on the camera except in the EXT_MOV folder. The camera’s firmware is apparently quite fragile about file names and the presence of the extra hidden folders that both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems create when you delete something.
