Infocus SP4805 buzzing noise

I have an InFocus Screenplay 4805. It has two problems and it is out of warranty and no authorized service centers in our area. The problems are it has a shadow down the left side of the picture and it also makes a very loud buzzing noise when the projector is turned on. Would you be able to repair these two items and if so what is the cost and procedure. We live in Clermont Florida, which is near Orlando. Thanks.

Here are the part numbers. Can you please let me know the prices and where I can get them. Also, I am going to try and attempt to fix it myself, since I don't have an dealer near here that can do it, so the DIY directions you offered will be great. Thanks for all your help.

Had problem with increasing band of yellow blur on right edge of screen image - found that one piece of the light tunnel had come unglued and would like to replace this part. Who can I contact to get a replacement for this and the color wheel (which appears to be a fragile part that will also likely breakdown over time)?

projector made a loud pop and then started a buzzing noise. I believe the noise is coming from the color wheel. I would be willing to fix myself but need instructions on how to get the cover off.

Hi dcabbarno

The buzzing noise is a broken colourwheel and the shadow could be a part of the colourwheel that is obstructing the light engine or it could be your packlight pipe ( tunnel with 4 tiny mirrors in it ) that was damaged when the colourwheel broke.

I do unfortunately not have the part numbers of the parts that I mentioned , but you could assist by opening up the unit and supplying me with the part numbers.

The colourwheel you will spot straight away once you've taken off the top cover of the Projector , the packlight pipe is situated right next to it - looks like a small tunnel that's got 4 mirrors inside it - takes the light into the light engine.

Once you've supplied me with these I can get you prices and places to order it from and will help you with instructins on how to replace them - it is quite easy to DIY.

Thanks for using Fixya !

the high-pitched sound is the colorwheel trying to spin up to speed. that may need to be replaced. check the inside of the lamp for bulges, black spots, fogging or flaking. if it has any of those, replace the lamp. you can get parts from an infocus service center or send it to them for repair. either way, try www.avsolutionsny.com they're really good. if you want to replace it yourself, there is a detailed step-by-step on my "tips" area. it's the same as the infocus x1, x2, x3 and sp4805. click on my picture and scroll down to tips. good luck!

How do i find out if i need a new lamp for my infocus 4805. when i turn it on the fan blows for a cpl secs and the green light blinks a few times, but i dont get anything saying the lampis out

when you power it on, do you hear a high-pitched whir? if not, you need to replace the colorwheel. it's also the colorwheel if you hear a buzzing instead. if the colorwheel does not spin, the lamp won't come on. if the colorwheel is ok, check the lamp. is the screen on the side of the lamp clogged with dust? is the inside of the lamp bulging, spotted, or foggy? if so, replace the lamp and clean out your projector with canned air. dust blocks air flow and keeps in the heat. this shortens the life of your lamp and projector. if you do need the colorwheel replaced, you could get the part from an infocus service center and do it yourself, or send it in for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

I have an InFocus ScreenPlay 4805. it only shows part of the picture. the rest of the screen have lines and is fuzzy. thanks herman

One possibility is that the Mirror behind the lense is dirty but I think that this also may be the light tunnel issue that I explained in a couple of other posts about the SP4805.
