TV code number

Just purchased a Sony DVD recorder (model# RDR-HXD870) and am unable to watch and record at the same time due to not having the appropiate TV code for the supplied Sony remote control (model# RMT-D2480) for my analog TV (LG Super Slim model# 29FU1RLX). I have configured the antenae cables as such that I can watch both digital and analog programs (as per the manual). I know these types of queries are asked a lot but can you assist me in finding this code/codes?

Thank you for your efforts. Will let you know
    how I got on tomorrow.

  • gr2830 May 14, 2008

Yes, I'll try these as well thank you.

  • gr2830 May 19, 2008

I tried all of the codes supplied but no joy.
My cable connection is set up so as to see both dogital and analog signals (as per the manual)i.e.- antenae cable from wall to digital in, cable from digital out to analog in and cable from analog out to tv.When I record to HDD (either recording digital or analog programs)and wanting to view another program on a different channel, the DVD recorder tells me "unable to perform this operation at this time".My system is set up for component video for which my tv readily accepts.I am at a loss as to what to try next....any suggestions?

  • gr2830 May 19, 2008

Thanks mate. I'll keep you posted.

  • gr2830 May 19, 2008

Checked with Sony and they said with my current setup (which was correct)and with the current capabilities of the DVD recorder it's not possible to record one program and watch another. It has something to do with having only one digital and one analog tuner.
I think you could possibly get around it by hooking up another device i.e. VCR or another tuner etc.. Anyway, I can't help but feel a tad disappointed cosidering the cost of this recorder.Unless someone else has a solution to this problem.... there end the lesson!

I've done research for this actually and cant find info on the way how you will set it up on an analog LG TV... Did you inquire from your manufacturer for the codes, because chances are it is nit going to work unless your TV set is Sony as well, Incompatibility issue is i think what you are having... Try contacting Sony instead just for info's regarding your setup.

Hmm..the best advice I can suggest is that since you only bought this recently, best ask the store where you bought it for details. I am sure they will have a solution, and in case the device is defective, they will be able to replace it under warranty..

I lost DVD Sony RDR-HXD 870 insructions. Could you possibly send it to me electronically?

Hi here is a link to Sony manuals downloads

http://support.sony-europe.com/manuals/index.aspx?site=odw_en_GB#m=RDR-HX870

It seems to be only available in Slovenian (probably only produced for that region?)

On right side of page select from drop down box 'home video', second drop down select 'dvd recorder' then in third drop down you should see your model number RDR-HX870 (without D). Download is 3.16mb.
Hope that helps and you can read Slovenian?

I presume that your TV uses Scart to connect to other devices and on your TV remote there will be a button that has either of these things next to it: 1.A box with an arrow pointing into it. 2.A button that says input. 3.A button that says AV. Turn on your DVD recorder and then push the button that i explained until you find the DVD recorder is coming up on your screen
