Champion Liftmaster Garage will not open or close. Just clicks

Lightning hit the house during bad storm and my power went out for few seconds. Went to my garage and the lights on both garage doors were on. I have a surge protecter on both garage doors but now one will not open or shut. I have tried the wall button and the remote and the garage opener just clicks and it wont go up or down. Is there an easy fix that I can do or will I need to call a technician out to repair this. What would an estimate cost be?

Pull the logic board and check for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit. I would guess at an estimate of $125.00 but don't even know where you live.

In the past ten years I have replaced the logic boards nine times. When a storm hits with lighting I loose the board due to surges. I have a G.F.I.out let, surge protector, and I have put a grounding rod...

Chamberlain makes a surge protector that is made specifically for their openers. I would try one of those. The part number is 990LM and should be available from any service company in the yellow pages that advertises Chamberlain or Liftmaster. Unfortunately as you have learned, lightning loves logic boards.

After a lightning storm, my LIftmaster Formula 1 garage door opener will not close without continually holding down the garage door button on the wall. If you push the button once and then let go it will...

If when the door reverses the main light flashes 10 times you have a problem with the door sensors. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. They must be pointed at one another for both lights to be on. If you cannot get the lights to come on you have a bad logic board.

Have a Craftsman 1/2 HP auto gargae doors. Lost power during a snow storm. Once power was reconnected only thing that did not work was garage doors. Is there a reset button somwhere....can't see one.

There isn't a reset button. Check the house circuit breaker. You may have had a power surge and that can damage the logic board printed circuit. Check the logic board for missing or burnt traces especially around the small transformer.

No reponse when using the remote, the wall control works fine.

The remotes use a receiver to actuate the door and the wall control does not. It sounds like your logic board is bad. Maybe a lightning storm recently? Try removing the board and look for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit.

Craftsman Garage Door Opener won't work after storm

Check to see if the trolley (the part that slides back and forth on the rail and is connected to the door) is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. If so, remove the bolt and run the door until it is closed. On the side of the motor unit there is an 'up limit' control. Turn this 3 turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Be sure to replace the bolt.

Craftsman garrage door opener not operating after thunder storm

If you had an lightning storm you most likely have a bad logic board. That is not a reset button you are pressing.

Sears 1/2hp thinks it is not all the way up and will not go down

It is really a common problem for lightning or electrical surges to take out the logic board. Big expense too.

Opener wont open makes clicking noise

Your opener has been hit by lightning or power surge.
If it's not too old you can replace the 'back board' (the computer board on the back of the opener.) Also If the opener has safety sensors one or both of them may be burnt out too, and if it was really bad then the rpm sensor will go too. So you could be looking at paying half the cost to repair or just get a new opener. Up to you, and get a surge protector. Lift master has a good line of products and makes thier own surge protectors for thier products.
