Run a speed test on your DSL, here:
http://speedtest.net/
When your test has completed, call up your ISP and see if this is a normal speed rating for your DSL. If it is and you are not happy with the speed, you should upgrade your internet to either fiberoptic (if it is available in your area), fast DSL, or cable internet.
Also post your results here and I will walk you through speeding up your computer.

My computer is very slow

Hi target to sp...
Try doing a Defrag of your Hard drive and also a disc cleaning.
Both will get rid of junk on your computer to make it run faster.
1...Left click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> Disc cleanup
2...Left click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disc Defragment
Note: > means "next"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If that does not work then try restoring your computer to an earlier time when it was running fast.
3...Left Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Restore

My hardisk copy and paste very slow what todo

You can try running a disc check or defragmenting the drive. As time goes on hard drives can develop fragmentation from deleting files and defragmenting can clear this up. Hard drives can also develop damaged sectors which running a disc check can clear up.

Pc defragment disc

Yes, if the the fragmentation was bad to begin with the Disk Defragmenter stops after some time. I've had some  customer's pc's in which i had to run it 3 times in a row to get it to a decent level.

Computer takes longer to boot up, plus is running very slow

1. To increase PC boot speed:
There must be too many programs automatically start when you boot your PC. To manage them, click Run, type in "msconfig", select "Boot", then you can disable unnecessary programs from that list.

2. To increase PC running speed:
* Adding RAM is the most effective method, but if the RAM is already at the maximum, then do the following.
* Run disk cleanup and defragmenter. But to be honest, the built-in Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter run quite slow and they will take you quite a long time, so I never use them. Third-party programs are better.
* Run registry optimizer software and defrag. No Windows built-in tools to do this. Search on google or refer to this free registry cleaner review.

Slow computer

Norton is a huge resource pig. Back in the mid 90's I swore by norton. Now, however, i dont like it. Try uninstalling it and going with Kaspersky, or for a free option, Comodo Internet Security, which has 5 stars from cnet.

Slow, or no, web page loads on Verizon DSL w/Westall 6100 modem

hi,
if your ie8 has messed with your settings try restoring your system back using system restore to a date when everything was fine, but little caution here you will loose every new settings/software installed that you did after the restore date, so restore it to a date that had those settings and software but internet was working fine
to restore your system to a back date
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.

and pick up the date and follow the instructions

  3. Immediately press F8 before the progress bar reaches the right side of the screen.
  4. From the Windows Start-up menu, highlight Safe Mode and press Enter.
  5. Wait for your desktop to appear, and then make the necessary repairs (for example, uninstall programs or devices).
