Touchsmart tx2z Screen Flickers and Freezes

I am having problems with my HP Touchsmart tx2z laptop. When the power cord is plugged in, the screen will flicker random black horizontal lines of various sizes across the screen. The computer will work but it slows and freezes often, and finally the entire screen will go black after I've been on for awhile. It'll appear to still be running, but the screen goes black. It's hard to tell sometimes if it has crashed or if it's still running, because sometimes if I wait long enough the screen will come back, and other times it never does. It only seems to do this when the power cord is plugged in. I recently had to replace the original HP cord because it frayed, but it still seems to do this even with a new (generic) cord.

HP TOUCHSMART 10526 GETING --NOT ENOUGH SPACE IN RUNTIME AREA -- SMBIOS DATA WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE this happened be 4 any bios update was done --RUNNING VISTA 32 HOME PREMIUM -- GET BLUE SCREEN SAYING NOT...

By the sound of it you have a BIOS problem. This can happen with a bad flash of the bios HP automatically updates the system if you have not shut off that feature. You may have recieved a bad update. It may also be youre power supply. Check to see if your power supply has the full voltage if you have a Voltmeter. Try reflashing the Bios if you can and make sure to check the "clear nv ram" feature if available during the flash process.
Hope this helps... Dale

I have a HP tx2z (zm-86, 8gb ram, 500 gb hd, Win 7 Ultimate) that has recently developed an issue. The screen freezes up when in a program, goes white, then recovers. This is then followed by a message...

The video driver is corrupted. Uninstall it, reboot at least twice then try first the official driver:

since its 1 decade old
the RTC coin cell is bad.
so is the main huge battery, run the PC with no battery here 1st
then if it still fails a new coin cell
if still dead, running on the power pack AC
power on and do a F11 recovery power on, hammer f11
if the HDD is still good, F11 will work and you go back to day one
state. (all data lost and all added apps lost)
are you backuped.

in recovery,(posted 1million times at HP) we do startup file repair before the full recovery, and hope.

The lightning bolt on my hp touchsmart tx2 flashes

that means your laptop has no power so your battery is dead which would explain why it shut down on you, and that means its not charging so it would either be the adapter or the port on your laptop

Fingerprint reader icon does not appear

I assume your just bought your laptop recently. If this is the case, the finger scanning application could be not yet install on your new laptop. Check in one of the CD's included on your laptop package if the installer for Finger Scanning is there and have it installed.

My HP Pavilion dv5000;s monitor is blinking!

This is a possible problem with the inverter that powers the back lighting panel or it could be the power adapter connector on the latop.
Wriggle the power connector which plugs into the laptop, if the LCD screen flickers then the power connector is faulty or needs resolderng (repairing).
