Either the throttle is stuck wide open, or there is a large air leak behind the carburetor to cylinder connection. Make sure the carburetor is securely fastened. If it has a flexible connection to the engine, remove the connection and inspect it for tears or holes. Watch the throttle arm on the carburetor which should move from the idle speed screw to the full throttle limit casting/post when the trigger is pulled and released. If it hangs near full throttle, then remove the trigger mechanism (make notes of the parts positions) and clean out any dirt/sawdust. Check the air cleaner and muffler for plugging. Check the H needle adjustment after repairs by running the engine at full speed after warm up--the engine should 4-stroke unloaded, but immediately 2-stroke when cutting. Check the condition of all of the fuel lines including the line to the filter in the tank looking for decay or other damage. Use original rubber lines for replacement, not plastic substitute. Hope some of this helps!

I was using my o17 saw today it was runing Just fine I shut it off when I went to start it again it fired on choke seting after that I could not get it to do anything what is wrong with it

All 2-strokes love to run rich when cold thus full choke till it kicks, half choke to start and leave on for 5 seconds high rev's to warm & lubricate, then no choke to run. Restart when hot is 1 pull full choke (you are now flooded) & then no choke til it starts. Try it. Works every time on all of my 2-stroke engines.

What are the air and gas settings for a poulan micro XXV chain saw

adjust the L screw in fully till right in,then out 1.5 turns, same with H screw. Then start saw, adjust L screw in or out slowly till you get max revs. You may need to lower idle via idle screw if revs too high. When screw cant acheive better revs, reset idle. Then, rev saw to max revs, adjusting H screw to get max revs, then when max revs acheived, turn screw anti clockwise 1/4 turn out. That gives it enough petrol to cool the tip of the plug

How to set the high and low

Turn mixture screws completely in gently, then wind out 11/2 turns each. The saw will be able to start and run at this point. On idle wind Low clockwise till motor starts to die then anti-clockwise 3/4 turn.
High speed is a little more difficult, On full revs wind clockwise till saw starts to rev out (lean Mixture) then back till the sound starts to bubble.

Stihl ms200t revs up on it's own when running out of gas

Unfortunatly when any saw starts to run out of fuel the mixture leans off so the revs will increase, i can think of no way to stop this other than re filling before it runs out, ignition govenors only control the max high revs so would not help here, the new Husqvarna top handle saw with auto tune should address this issue.

Wild thing chainsaw won't stay running. I replaced all fuel lines, primer bulb, fuel filter, gaskets to the carb. and have cleaned the carb out very well and blew out all passages. I pulled the spark...

On the carburetor got two screws to adjust the carburetor. The first is to adjust the saw when working at high speeds. Another is when running at low revs. It is best to either put back for about 1.5 cycle of the maximum of the end of the rotation of the screws. If then the saw starts, then you can adjust it fine at higher revs (H), then at low (L). Have can be minimum screw that stops the chain.

42cc 18 inch craftsman chainsaw model 358-351910-18. Saw runs great at idle or while not cutting wood, when starting to cut wood just after the entire bar gets into the wood engine bogs down and chain...

Generally this is a fuel / air ratio problem. Usually it can be solved by a carb adjustment. On the carb there are usually two screws, one marked low or L , the other marked high or H. Low is your adjustment for idle mixture, high is for mixture at full throttle. The saw should Always be adjusted to run well during the cut. Make adjustments a little at a time, then try The saw. Continue small adjustments untill the saw is performing well at full throttle while Cutting.

Cuts out on high revs 240 chain saw

Many saws made today are using electronics for engine control. If the engine rpm's starts to rev to high, the electronics in the coil will start to 'cut out' some of the spark. This is normal in this senerio.

But, now the real problem causing the senerio;

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
5) replace gaskets/diaphragms
b) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb

My ryobi chainsaw rcs 2040 keeps stopping but motor is still running, chain not moving!

RYOBI----- with the motor running at high revs the chain stops indicates that the sprocket behind the centrifugal clutch is worn out or the centrifugal clutch itself ,or the clutch shoes are worn out the way to tell is to remove the bar and chain and have alook where the chain was conected to the saw, i think you will see the sprocket is buggered and as that is attatched to the clutch drum that will have to be replaced along with clutch springs and shoes, i think you have been running the chain a bit too loose or not running it at realy high revs ,which is what they are designed to do ,cme back to me if you feel the need
