Its your drivers they could be corrupted, go into control panel hardware and sound, under device manager. look for the drivers and check to see if they are corrupted, i recommend reinstalling the drivers with the disc that cam with it,, that should fix the problem.

Need a power supply for Beyond Micro BMMDU2 drive. What is the voltage and current rating? Also, has this company been rebranded?

Mine came with a "DVE Switching Adapter":

(Model: DVS-120A15FUS
Input: 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz 0.7A)

Output is +12V, 1.5 A

Diagram indicates that the outer shield is negative, I think.

Beyond micro mobile disk BMMDU2 is not recognized

The drive USB interface may be damaged; an external case is available form various vendors for about $20. The drive should pop out and into the new case. If still not recognized, then the ID track on the drive may be compromized - that can happen if the USB is unplugged while it is still writing to the drive. There is drive recovery software out there, like EASEUS that works quite well (they have a demo that you can try free) to see if that would work.

Laptop Won't Recognize External HD

You can try opening the device manager in Window XP and uninstall the external hard disk (make sure you show unplugged devices).
Then replug the drive again, and it should reinstall the drivers.
