Gateway was sued Class action over LCD's and Plasmas they sold over a 2 year period. They resell 3rd party TV's that were very faulty, an immature design.

Here's what I learned about mine, which makes it limp through as a Computer monitor (both DVI and VCA) and halfway functional TV.
You have to connect a DVI source, on the Main Menu for the DVI input there is an option called "Factory Mode". scroll down to it with the CH buttons and select it with the vol button. The scroll to "initialize eprom", select and confirm it. After the "Waitting" words disappear, make sure you have a TV source connected, Then turn the TV off and on, using the hard switch in the back. The TV input should be defaulted to channel 10 or 11 now But you select a TV channel that has no TV signal on it (like channel 1 for example) , the whole TV input side will refuse to let you select it again, and you'll have a blank screen and have to start over.

That takes care of the blank screen thing Now the other problem is parental control is defaulting to "ON" or something, and you can't program channels. With the TV input Main Menu engaged, select "Setup Menu." If you have this problem, then you'll only see 2 options, all the TV input and channel programming options will be missing. You have to select Parental Control, and when it prompts you for a password hit the volume > button 4 times (or just wait for a minute.) This should bring back your TV System and auto prgram/manual search options.

Unfortunately, my TV doesn;t remember these setting very well if I select cable, it does better if I select "AIr". But at least it funtions - kind of. If you switch to your computer input, you probably will have to switch the monitor off and on from the back panel again. Mine always starts up with the menu onscreen. All this might bve less trouble if you have a the remote, I don;t know where mine went after the last move.

Good luck, and hope this helps.

Billy K.

I have a Gateway Plasma TV, model GTW-P46M103. I am not getting a picture or sound.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

I have a Sony KDS-R50XBR1 that has no picture. When I turn on the TV, the green Power/Standby LED light blinks for about 30 seconds, then turns red and blinks five times. The Power/Standby LED repeats...

  • Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen A2 slightly.

I have a Gateway gtw-p42m303 powers up to the warm up screen then light switches from green to standby orange. smells hot could be a power supply or capacitor?

Most likely a Y sustain module failure. Gateway does not make a set, so I would need a part number off of the board in order to give you an exact price of the part. Usually they're around $300.00

My LCT3201AD is plugged in and the standby light under the screen is on (red LED). Repeated attempts using both remote and side Standby/Power switch result in the LED turning green for only a few seconds...

Remove the power supply and replace the three (3) capacitors soldered to it. They will be rated at something in the neighbrohood of 16v. Replace them with larger capacitors, something in the neighborhood of 35v.

26PF8946/37 Red light

Hey habo,

The red light you are referring to most likely is the power indicator light. On many newer TV's this light will appear red when the TV is off or in "standby" mode, and green when the TV is in operation.

Please keep in mind that some TV models may use the power indicator light to notify owners of ay potential hardware problems as well, so you may wish to refer to your owner's manual documentation if you have been encountering any problems during TV operation.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

LG LCD TV Standby Light Flashing Red Continuously

I have had this same problem twice in the past 3 months. So far both times I've been able to get it back after a week or two. I'm not sure what works, but unplugging and detaching the antenna and cable and waiting a few days seems to be the key. In both instances, I unplugged it for a few days then plugged it in for a few days and repeated the processes until I eventually got the steady red led. Both times prior to the red led the led would flash red then green and make a clickiing noise for several hours before I was able to get it working again.

If you power switch does not light up. It possible that the Horizontal Output Transistor (HOT) is shorted.

Gateway plasma tv

I was able to resolder the pin shown in the picture and it fixed my problem as well.  I also used a razor and cut off the last socket for that pin on the connector and put a dedicated connector on so that it will take the heat a little better.  Also when I re-soldered that pin on the bottom side of the board I scraped away some of the protective coating around the solder puddle so that I could make a bigger solder puddle to add a little more strength and heat resistance.
