It sounds like you have not got drivers installed.
if youve recently reinstalled os or updated sp system often doesnt recognise wireless device , so have to install manually.
if you cant see icon in sys tray then no drivers are installed or device is disabled.check device manager to verify drivers installed.
if driver installed check if enabled.
if device has red cross its either disabled or has conflicts.
if you cant find it in device manager it isnt installed.

Please try to check the specification of your laptop again, have you installed a separate wireless network card on your laptop.

Based from the specification on the HP manual, the communication feature for your laptop are:

Communications 10/100/1000 NIC High speed 56K modem with digital line guard NOTE: Designed only to allow faster downloads from high speed 56K modem compliant sources. Maximum achievable download transmission rates currently do not reach 56 KB/s, and will vary with line conditions. NOTE: Modem availability is subject to country regulatory approval.

Windows tells me that wireless has been turned off. How do I turn it back on?

usually a hardware switch is your culprit. On the Acer Aspire 5520 the "easy launch buttons" include an enable/disable for the wireless LAN. It is up above the keyboard and unless it has been reprogrammed press the 2nd key from the left on the application buttons (looks like a satellite)b137ae8.png

Where is the switch to turn on my wireless connection I have a cn6000 compaq and it tells me my wireless switch is turned off where is it an how do I turn it on ?

Try pressing the FN+F2

If you have windows, try this. Go to Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, Network Connections. Right-click on your wireless connection, and if there is an option to "enable," then enable it. Otherwise, it'll say "disable," which means that it's turned on.

There is a button above the keyboard to turn on Wireless

Hope it works :-)

Wireless keyboard and mouse not working

Hello

Some wireless keyboards and mices have a button that enables the locating signal of the device, this button when pressed locates the receiver and initiate a pairing with the host. Look below you keyboard and mouse, and if your keyboard is a Bluetooth device, then check in your computer if the bluetooth is enabled and drivers are installed.
