When I run water through this tub spout (diverter in down position) I still have water leaking from the showerhead. I have seen water from a tub spout when the shower is on, but not the other way around. Any ideas? Bad diverter?? thanks

After you turn water off in about 30 secs pull the diverter up and leave for a few minutes This should allow the water left in shower piipe to drain out the spigot

Nonsense red echo, you don't understand the issue.

What type of valve are you connecting to peeshon? I bet it has a 1/2" connection to the tub spout. I find the amount of unwanted flow out the shower spout depends on the settings of the two valves when filling the tub.

I discovered the same problem when I had replaced an old American Standard 2-valve having a 3/4" threaded tub connection that connected to a spout with a 3/4" threaded connection and diverter at the back. The new valve has a 1/2" spout connection, and the new spout has a 1/2" connector with diverter at the spout end. The plumber also used sharkbite connectors to the tub spout, which due to the inside plastic connector further reduced the inside diameter to 3/8". These smaller configurations are the problems I believe. The reduced diameter of the new spout piping reduced the flow to the spout and caused significant water flow up the shower head even with the tub spout diverter open. It helped to change the spout piping to 3/4" all copper, the flow to the tub is increased although due to the 3/4" to 1/2" threaded adapters on each end of the spout piping, there is still some water going up to the shower head although it is much reduced. I put a turn valve at the shower head for now to shut off the rest. I am looking to get a replacement tub spout with a 3/4" connector to further increase the flow rate through the tub spout. If there is still a flow up to the shower head that still bothers me, I will have to find a valve that has a 3/4" tub spout connection and replace the whole thing.

Shower head wont turn all the way off

the seal on the diverter may have fallen off, or bad/dirty diverter.

when the water is turned off, does the diverter return to "normally open" state? (no divert, goes directly through tub spout)

I had the same problem. My building manager showed me that you have to yank the circular portion at the end the of spout where the water comes out downward and the water will be diverted to the showerhead.

Installed new tub/shower valve, water comes out of showerhead when water is turned on even though spout is open

the diverter valve is probably bad. put a new one in. the valve cuts off the water to shower, while running bath water.

Just installed a waterpic shower head, half the water comes out of faucet and half the shower head, any solutions?

If your tub spout has a knob that you lift to divert the water to the waterpic then replace it with a Delta service part #RP17453 pull down spout. It always sends 100% of the water to the shower head and will always snug tight to the wall.

I just installed a series 13/14 single valve tub/shower faucet. When I try to turn on just the tub spout, the shower comes on as well. What could be causing this?

most likely problem is to much pressure in water lines if u have shut off valves on to feed lines turn them down a little will decrease pressure to the valve other problem the spout {tub} diverted is partially engaged, loose, debris or defective if u can reremove the spout and observe the valve for proper function

Pull down shower diverted works, but allows bypass into tub

The diverter is supposed to leak a little bit, so it will disengage after you turn off the water. If the water is leaking out a little, that's normal. But if it is really leaking out you may need to replace the entire spout.
