Any USB memory card reader that supports your memory card is OK. Most USB memory card readers will support serveral SD memory card types.

it sounds like the SD card reader has failed. This fortunately is a quick, semi-cheap (~$20) fix. You can purchase a media card reader that plugs into the USB on your system for about 20. If your system is in warranty, I would contact and see if they could schedule a replacement part or a depot fix/tech call to replace the failed drive

maybe your SD card reader is malfunctioning. you have to replace it.

vista just had a update for the SD card reader. Go to Microsoft website and update the driver. FYI Vista is also known for having some problems with the SD card readers in the past

Did you insert the memory card properly? because if your memory card is not inserted properly, the SD card reader may seem not to work. And if probably the problem is from the SD card reader slot, then you have to give it to an engineer for repair or better still take your laptop to Hp customer service center for repair. Thanks

Does it show up in My Computer? That is where it usally resides as a removable drive.

1) There is SD card reader on pavilion dv 1000, so you need adapter in which you insert mini SD card to make it SD
2) If you have that adapter, check adapter. Maybe it's broken.
3) If your card is biger, like 2GB or higher you may try updatenig drivers (I read on one web page: " There was a software update for support of reading and using higher memory SD cards, for my pavilion ZV5000, on the HP Software update website." )

Driver for the SD reader can be found on the nx7000 page by Compaq (but not on the nx7010!!)
