Look for the fuse first, there are sometimes a removable white ceramic fuse that you can have tested at Radio Shack. If that doesn't work, look into the replacing the power board.

Last night our TV made a loud popping noise then the picture went out. We still have sound but have trouble turning the TV off. What could this be and is it fixable? Thanks, Anne Marie Orcutt

Hi,
Question shows it is Vizio L32 lcd tv and symptom shows back light inverter board for defective for some reason and loud noise would be popping of any chip on inverter board.
Shopjimmy..com has replacement boards of that model on reasonable price and local tv repairman will replace defective board after checking/ testing the tv.
Hope these info will help.
Thanks.

Tv went out after loud pop and has clicking noise does not turn on

If you have a Sony DLP, then the loud pop you heard is your lamp.  The lamps last approx. 4K-6K viewing hours.  Read your manual for replacement part number to reorder and very simple to replace yourself.

Vizio 42 Plasma Pop

My 42 Inch Vizio experienced the pop of death out-of warranty. I bought mine at Sears and they sent a technician over within a day or so. It turned out to be in the power supply and they shipped a board right out. Total including parts and labor was $280. Although no expensive TV should die after less than 2-years, Sears seems to be able to deal with repair in the home without drama.

Tv came back on!!! I have had my Vizio almost 5 yrs. But have to call the unhelpful customer service atleast once a year.... I hope this works for you :)
