Water in Henry vacuum cleaner motor.

My moronic lodger left my Numatic Henry under a leak and so the motor has water in it. I haven't turned it on to avoid short circuits. Is there anything to be done other than let it dry out slowly? Is it easy to open the assembly to allow more air in, etc?

I would say it's essential to open Henry up, otherwise (assuming he has indeed got water inside him) you will wait for ever for him to dry. He can be opened very easily - just undo the four recessed screws on the underside of his hat, and the upper part will lift off. Pay attention to the switch (or switches, depending on the model) as that may be more vulnerable to water penetration than the motor. The motor compartment may have water in it, but the motor itself is probably fairly well protected. When you've got it opened and mopped up any visible water, it will help to give it a blow with a hair dryer.
If in doubt, though, get a professional to deal with it. It pays not to mess with electricity if you're unsure!

HENRY VACUUM CLEANER HI LO SWITCH BROKEN CAN I DISABLE IT TO STAY IN HI MODE?

It can be disabled to stay in high mode, but you need to know what you are doing. It basically involves removing the small PCB and connecting the motor wires directly to the on/off switch. The hi/lo switch can be left in place (although not connected) or removed and a blanking plate put in it's place. You can leave a hole as this is a potential hazard and against government regulations.

The motor needs to be replaced. Unless your Henry is still under warranty it's cheaper to buy a new one.

Can i wash the filter on my numatic henry hoover?

If it is a recent model 2007 onwards, it may not be too successful, but you could try if absolutely necessary. Although not normally required, earlier filters can be gently washed by hand in a soapy solution, thoroughly rinsed and left to dry naturally.

Numatic henry making strange spluttering sound

Sounds very poorly. If you have renewed the brushes and contacts it is now more likely to be the motor. If you check, I expect the copper windings or the armature are black and burned. A new motor can be obtained from the manufacturers www.numatic.com or in the UK you might find it cheaper at www.a1cleaningsupplies.co.uk

Numatic henry making a strange spluttering sound coming from the motor

Sounds like the carbon brushes in your motor are worn out. They can be replaced with new ones, but you may not feel like doing the job yourself. Best not to mess with electrics unless you are completely sure you know what you're doing... in which case, take Henry to a repairer. The job is simple, quick and should not be too costly.
