Convergance crosshairs no level

The convergance crossairs on my set are not level. It is almost as if the crossaires are slightly rotated a 3/8 in or so. I saw another posting where it was suggested that the convergance IC's be changed. If this will solve my problem are they soldered to the board or are they in sockets? Will this issue lead to a slightly blurred image?

Is there a definitive way that I can determine if it is a convergance IC issue? Let me tell you some of the other issues. This may nail the issue down. When I try to perform convergance cal the markers on the side of the screen are not visible. At first I thought I'd have to "resize" the screen but it seems possible that the issue is convergance related. The entire picture is too large and will not fit on the screen. The image appears blurry. If I move the "green" convergance around I can eliminate the bluriness but then have an un centered image. Does this help?

    Thanks!

Hi,
If convergence out ICs got bad then it have to be replaced and yes, soldering work is required in circuit board to remove and install new ICs.
Required ICs STK392-110 for Panasonic PT-61HX40 are available in Part Store for $15, TV needs two ICs.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

What is the airline with flight code of LX?

The company's registered office is in Basel. The airline uses the IATA code LX that it inherited from the Swiss regional airline Crossair (Swissair's code was SR). The ICAO code is SWR, inherited from Swissair (Crossair's was CRX), in order to keep international traffic rights.

Convergance adjustment

if the convergence option is missing from the on screen menu you will need to replace DL231, CL230, and FL231 to restore the option. You can get the parts and instructions at the following link for less than 20.00. They also most likely have the original remote for your set also. Leave them a email to inquire.

Pic focus & convergence

Before you replace the ICs, try resoldering the connections on them. Also check the area for other poor solder connections. Resolder any that appear tobe grainy or have rings. Update this with your results and report if the symptoms change.

Thanks,

Not having much luck with this convergence

MrPeab,
Is it possible you missed one of the wire connections on the convergence module? My other thought is, are you attempting this setup with the factory original remote or a universal?

Mistaken: Not the green gun convergence at all. confusion sets in...

the problem you are having is the convergance amplifiers have failed and may be some support resistors and pico fuses. the amplifiers are STK392-110 but STK392-120 can be used and are better for load handling. these are located on very large heat sinks. there are two of these IC's and both should be replaced.this is the most common failure in a projection tv. if you got into the service menu for multi point convergance setting you may have place the data well outside the tolerance of the amps and they may blow again. if you did not get into the service menu reset the convergance to factory reset (this is in the cutomer menu) before you replace the amps. the panasonic part # for the amps is C5AA00000203 . you can get it at www.vancebaldwin.com . if you don't have the skills to repair this then you a tech should be called the cost of the repair maybe around $350.00 to $375.00

Convergence

Replaced convergance power packs (2) stk392-110 check all 2watt resistor the packs, to enter the convergance alinment mode on the set. Using the remote control press and release the sleep timer button when sleep timer displays timer equals zero immediately press the display and V. status buttons at the same time.  If done quickly enough the service menu will appear once entered the careful not to does disturb or change any other settings press the number seven to enter the convergence alignment mode a full crosshair pattern will appear in this alignment mode you can adjust the blue and the red to line them on the green using the select and the number pad you can move to the next crosshair to align the boot to the green and then the red to the green when done pressing the muting button on the remote control will save your changes will take a little while to figure this out as you work with.  If you make an unwanted error pressing exit without hitting the muting button will restore your convergence to its previous  setting.  If you're green is off after entering the service mode press the number six on your remote control in this setting will be able to adjust the green only once that is done us the muting button.  Then enter button seven if need be to adjust the blue and the red.  Remember no changes have been stored until the muting button is pushed open this helps.

Tried convergance, but would work

probably need to replace the convergence ICs inside the TV. The Ic is about 2" x 3" and mounted on large aluminum heatsink. Usually 2 or 3 (depends on model)
