Camcorder says my memory card is missing

I had several videos already saved on the hard disk and was able to view them just fine. Now when I turn it on it tells me to insert my memory card and my videos are gone. Does anyone know what happened?

SAVED VIDEO FROM A VACATION IN COSTA RICA GOT HOME WATCHED THE VIDEO MANY TIMES , TRYED TO DOWNLOAD IT TO COMPUTER WOULDN'T DOWNLOAD TRYED TO VIEW ON LARGER SREEN COULDN'T WATCH IT . WENT BACK TO WATCH ON CAMERA

ALL VIDEOS WERE GONE. COULDN'T FIND VIDEO ON CAMERA BUT

STILL SHOW THE SPACE IN MEMORY GONE. JUST CAN'T RETRIEVE VIDEOS OR FIND VIDEOS. HELP

Turn on your camcorger, push the button menu. Select the rec media for video, select hdd so that it looks for the hard drive, Mine defaulted to the sd and was also looking for the memory card. Missed filming my son's 6th graduaton because of that!!!

Can i use other braqnds of memory cards in the camcorder?

Yes. You can use any brand of memory card, as long as it's the correct type. Personally, I'd stick with the major brands, but I use several different brands with my several cameras and none of them have ever caused any problems.

No you do not need a memory card to record. The JVC Everio GZ-MG130 is a hard disk drive camcorder with a built-in 30 gigabyte hard drive to record to. You can, however, use an SD memory card if you want to add additional space to save your videos and pictures to.

I deleted some videos from my flip thinking i wouldn't need them but it turns out i do! Is there a free quick and easy way to recover them?

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Next" and wait for it to do it's magic.
