I have the same problem and found that replacing the cord did not work.I also have another phone connected to the line and it shows all caller id while this one does not This phone sucks but unfortunately I threw the receipt away. Now I cant get my money back.
Try changing the cord between the base unit and the phone jack. Some phones are pretty fussy about this, and when they are, it's usually the caller ID information that gets clobbered. Alternatively, try attaching the base unit to a different phone jack - preferably the jack with the shortest wiring run to where the phone service comes into your home.
