Mapping of D-link DNS-323 drive doesn't succeed.

Mapping of DNS-323 drive doesn't succeed. Maybe the reason is F-secure firewall..?
I have found and setup the drive (RAID 1) with D-link's Easy search -tool and drive can be seen with that program.
However, in the Drive mapping part of the same program, button 'Connect' stays grey when I select the drive.

Maybe the problem is firewall or other restriction of Windows but I have no idea how to enable mapping of it?
Operating system of my computer is Vista and SATA drives in DNS-323 are Seagate 1T each.

Thanks!

I had the same problem when I was attempting to map the drive using the hostname of the DNS-323. I solved the problem by typing in the IP address instead. Do the following:

1. Login to the DNS-323 as admin
2. Make sure you use static IP's to make sure that the address does not change in the future.
3. Go to the drive mapping page and use IP address instead of hostname in the drive mapping (e.g. \\192.168.1.1\Volume_1)
4. Make sure you use a valid username and password.
5. Check the connection configuration by clicking on the Test button.

You should get a successful outcome, otherwise check all the settings again until you are successful

The solution for me turned out to be quite simple. It has got nothing to do with the DNS-323, as so many others have the same problem with other NAS divices. For some reason, more than one protocol for the same connection is sometimes a bad thing. So do this:
1. Go to Start/Settings/Network connections.
2. Right click your connection and choose Properties
3. You shall see no other protocol than Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Can't connect to my dns-323

If you disabled the firewall and the Easy Search utility still can't find it, you could try searching for the answer in the device's user manual:

Cannot access documents on dns-313

I'd try two things. Boot in Safe Mode with Networking and disable all firewalls, see if you find the NAS. Your issues sure screams firewall configuration to me.

I have just bought a COSMI 2003 perfect firewall system. Is it viable and will it update to present requirements

What a joke; you didn't list your requirements to consider, and I don't think I ever heard a professional call software that shipped viable or not.

Just because nobody ever lent credence to 8-year-old security software (that was maybe $5) doesn't mean you can't build a multi-billion dollar business out of making it do something for you. If you want a firewall though, update your router with one that has some reasonable firewall features from a company with an actual reputation and business volume making sure their firewalls work awesome; or use free ones associated with your operating system's environments, and perhaps consider OpenDNS if your ISP doesn't offer DNS options (e.g. not resolving StreetMedications.com as such as caution.)

Unable to browse the internet via the RF820 although there is no block of port 80

Am experiencing the same problem. Try manually entering a working DNS number in your COMPUTER under the network settings. Then open your browser and go to a site you know is up and running; i.e. www.microsoft.com. If the site opens, then the problem is exactly like mine. It appears that the Multitech RF is having problems transmitting the DNS numbers through the network to the individual computers. I haven't found a fix yet other than putting the DNS IP numbers into EACH individual computer. Some devices will not allow manual DNS inputs; thus lies the bigger problem (I have some that do not allow it; i.e. Wii, Phillips TV, and Dish Network Satellite receivers). Hope this helps some. It is looking like an impossibility to purchase a new Multitech RF SOHO as there appear to be NONE for sale on the internet.

I have a D-Link DNS-323 Hard Drive Array and many times I cannot access it but have no explanation of why it works sometimes and others it does not. The error I get is 'Microsoft Windows Network: The...

What is the firmware version of DNS-323? Many bugs were fixed in recent firmware revisions. You can see your version in the top right corner in the web interface after you log-in. See on the D-Link website if there is a newer firmware available.
When it doesn't work, what you have to do to make it work? Reboot windows? Or reboot the DNS-323? It can also be issue with your firewall or Windows configuration. Which Windows version do you use?

Hello, I just bought DNS-323 and trying to start up it. I?m using one hard drive Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3500630AS SATA 3G HDD 500G. I installed it in HDD1 slot and start the system. DNS-323 received...

I read that there are problems in some applications if you use only one disk in the 323. Try to move your disk to the other slot to see if this fixes your problem. Alternatively (if u have the money), you can try buying another hard disk of same brand/model and install it on the other slot.

You can then try setting up your device as a RAID1 or bigger (not recommended) JBOD configuration

I try to connect DLINK dns 323 to WD TV by USB cable but it not work how can i solve this

The USB port on the D-Link DNS 323 NAS is for a printer only. It won't work with your WD TV. Your best bet would be to plug the WD TV into a PC that is connected to your network along with the D-Link DNS 323 NAS and serve your media files that way.

Looking for best deal on DNS-323 + 3TB hard drive

My personal choice would be for Western Digital green series drives

7200 RPM drives with as large a CACHE as possible would be the main part of my specs.

Faster speeds are becoming available but they are still quite new technology so just for now you might want to cross them off the list too

Seagate has taken some hits recently with firmware issues so for the moment they would not be on my list either

SATA interface hard drives ar the only ones supported by this unit so other than what I have said the choice is quite large.
