(That's assuming the GA-8SIML is the correct model of the motherboard as shown at the top of your query, if it is not, write back with the correct one.)

Can you boot from usb on a sony vaio pcg-9s1l

You may need to "Flash" (Update) the Bios. To do this, go online and download the latest Bios update for your machine.

Unzip the downloaded file and place it on an empty Memory stick.

Insert the memory stick and restart your machine. The Bios update should install.

Wait for the process to finish and then see if you now have the option in Bios>Boot Options to Boot from USB.

Bios update

Dear Alex,

There is a YouTube video that shows how to update the BIOS for your PC. I'll be posting it right away, but first I have to tell you that, while looking for the answer for your question, I came across to some forum posts regarding the 1401 BIOS update presenting problems with USB and other peripherals. maybe you should first have a look at it:

http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20081014213202406&board_id=1&model=M2NPV-VM&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

Unless you have a problem with your laptop that really need a BIOS update, you should remain with your actual version of BIOS. Anyway, the video is posted at:

Hope this info may be of help!

Bios update Gateway GT5268E PC Desktop

LOL, well it could be that Windows 7 is your problem. You were better off with XP, the most stable operating system put out by microsoft in recent times.

Have you tried to update the bios? One of the latest versions BIOS Update [DPP3510J.86A] 07/15/09. But verify to ensure that you download the correct bios for your board. There are a few options available. Also check the jumper pins for the bios on the motherboard normal or (default) setting is pins 1-2 jumped.

Windows vista has does not response when i install it , and i find the problem that the bios software is out of date so i will work to update the bios but i cant know how can i update the bios can you help...

Hi,
To explain how to update the bios, would be very difficult, as it is a strict method to complete.
And would be a very lengthy conversation.

below is a link to the procedures for you

(WARNNG) you must get it right first time.
Flashing the Bios is not difficult, it must be right.

http://www.wikihow.com/Update-Your-Computer's-BIOS

Take your time, soak up the method's and procedures, practice the procedures in the steps,

Go for the BIOS update, only when you are confident that you have understood all the topics involved.
You will need a working, online Pc system,
so you can download and get the updates.

Hope this helps
Regards.
Richard.
