When you entered the person into the phonebook on the phone, did you include the area code? It's wierd because it won't register who is calling if the phone number in the phonebook does not match exactly how it is coming in on the caller id. Try this, if it doesn't help let me know.

I purchased a Uniden model D1688 and I don't know how to put favorites into the phonebook.

Entries can be added from the base or the handset. The CID button is on the right of the control ring; the phonebook is on the left of that ring.

If you want to add a number from the Caller ID list to the phone book, press CID and use the up/down arrows to navigate to the call that you want to add. Then press Menu/Select. Select the line Store into Pb and press Menu/Select. You will be at the Edit Name Screen for the phonebook.

To enter a new item from scratch, press the Phonebook button. Then press Menu/Select and select the Create New submenu. Press Menu/Select and enter the name of the contact using the alphabet on the key pad. (For C, press 2 three times.) Press Menu/Select and enter the phone number as it is dialed (including a 1 if needed). If you need to add a pause in the number, press Redial/Pause. However, the entire number must be less than 20 digits (including the pause). Press Menu/Select again. If you enter the number from the handset, you will be prompted to select a ringtone to always use when you get a call from that number. Press Menu/Select again. Then press End (on the handset) or Play/Stop (on the base) to exit the menu system.

Uniden has the manuals available at their site, either from the product page or the support page. All DECT phone manuals are here: http://www.uniden.com/bin/venda?ex=co_disp-view&bsref=uniden&scat=dectphones_mnl . The manuals are listed in numerical and alphabetical order. The direct link to the D1688 manual in English is http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/D1688-2om.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Forgot how to add new phone numbers and names to my phone

Creating Phonebook Entries To store names and numbers in your Phonebook, please follow these steps: When the phone is in standby mode, press [phonebook icon] (on the left side of the four-way key). To create a new phonebook entry, press the NEW soft key. Edit Name appears. Enter the name for this entry (Edit Name). Use the keypad to enter a name for this entry; the name can contain up to 1 6 characters. (See page 1 1 for instructions on entering text.) If you do not want to enter a name for this entry, your phone will store this entry as No Name. Press the OK soft key when you are finished. Enter the number for this entry (Edit Number 1). Once you have stored a name, EDIT NUMBER1 appears next. Use the number keypad, [right] or [left] on the four-way function key, or the DELETE soft key to enter the phone number 1 ; the phone number can contain up to 32 digits. If you need the phone to pause between digits when it’s dialing (for example, to enter an extension or an access code), press [redial/pause] to insert a two-second pause. You will see a P in the display. You can also use more than one pause together if two seconds is not long enough. Each pause counts as one digit. Press the OK soft key when you are finished. EDIT NUMBER 2 appears next. Use the same procedure when entering the phone number 1 to enter the phone number 2. Press the OK soft key when you are finished. Assign a personal ring tone for this entry (Personal Ring). You can attach a personalized ring tone to each phonebook entry; the phone will use this ring tone when this person calls. Move the cursor to highlight one of the 20 different ring tone options. As you highlight each ring tone, you will hear a sample of that tone. When you hear the ring tone you want to use, press the OK soft key. If you do not want to use a personal ring tone for this phonebook entry, select the NO SELECTION option, and the phone will use your standard ring tone setting. Assign this entry to a Speed Dial number (Speed Dial). Your phone has 1 0 speed dial numbers, 0 to 9. Move the cursor to select the speed dial number you want to assign to this phonebook entry, and press the OK soft key. Select NO SELECTION if you do not want to assign this entry to a speed dial number. Press the OK soft key. You will hear a tone confirming that the new phonebook entry has been stored, and DONE! appears in the display. Note: When the shared memory is full, the oldest Caller ID message is overwritten.

How do I save telephone numbers to a uniden powermax 5.8 ghz cordless telephone

Phonebook (Storing Phone Numbers, Names, Distinctive
Rings and Speed Dial)
You can store names and numbers in your phone’s phonebook, search for names
alphabetically, and dial phonebook entries with just a few key presses. You can
store up to 100 numbers in the base and up to 100 additional numbers in each
registered handset.
The phone uses the same memory to store phonebook entries and Caller ID
messages. If the shared memory is already full, the phone will not store any more
phonebook entries. You will have to delete some of the Caller ID messages before
you can store a new phonebook entry.
1) When the phone is in standby mode, press phonebook.
2) Press the STORE soft key, S t o r e / E d i t N a m e appears.
3) Enter the name (up to 16 characters) by using the
number keypad (see the "Steps for Entering Names and
Special Characters" on page 44).
If a name is not required, go to step 4. <No Name> will
be used as the name.
4) Press the OK soft key to store the name;
S t o r e / E d i t N o . appears.
5) Use the number keypad, */tone/<, or #/> to enter the
phone number (up to 20 digits).
If you make an error, use the DELETE soft key to erase
the incorrect digits. When you are finished, press the
OK soft key to store the number.

6) If you store the phonebook entry from the handset,
D i s t i n c t i v e R i n g appears. Press volume up/down to
move the pointer to one of the Distinctive Ring options
and then press the OK soft key.
7) S p e e d D i a l appears. Press volume up/down to move the
pointer to select the Speed Dial location (10 locations:
SPD1-SPD0).
8) Press the OK soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone, and D o n e ! appears in the
display. EASY DOES IT! :)

Unwanted caller

The best thing for you to do since the phone per se does not "block" calls is simply to make sure that this person's name is NOT in your phonebook memory, and then restrict calls to where those who are NOT in your phonebook will not ring through - unfortunately the calls will still be able to ring through to your voicemail though.

Uniden power max 2.4 ghz

I had the same problem but figured it out. For some dumb reason, Caller ID numbers count against your total phonebook memory. So if you just delete all your Caller ID numbers (press the "Caller ID" button and then the "delete" button) then you'll be able to store new numbers in your phonebook.

If I could get my hands on the Uniden engineer that is responsible for this, I'd smack him! :)
