Yes you can reinstal the OS!

yes the driver are specific for o.system.
However you must sure that driver is compatible with the o.system like w.vista+7+8+ etc.if you have doubt please get support via ONLINE chat with your supplier and ask them for verification.

my laptop is sony PCG-7173L. No thing display on screen and i even cant shutdown and there is no power led on power button and no sound of fan too....i cant go to advance boot option also..Please can any body help me...

Open the CD tray and check the lens on the player to see if it is clean.
Go to Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager - DVD/CD-ROM Drives then right click on your CD drive and look at Device status, Check if the device is working properly and Device usage is enabled.
If not work then the CD drive may be faulty and needs to be replaced.

The CD drive is on the left side of the base, near the display side of the base. There should be a button you push that will open the drive. It is built into the side of the computer.

sounds like the display/monitor is about to go... backup your files...externally

try right click desktop go to properties/display setting check that display is set properly go to advanced settings check out there if everything OK go to control panel/device drivers uninstall video drivers reboot it should boot with standard vga drivers check if display is OK then try loading your proper video drivers

Have you tried booting with a windows cd, and then running a disk check?
