Well I think that theres a record button on the vcr that you press and it does recording and you can press the pause button for to give it a rest then.

I have a Sanyo vwm-385 vcr..it has been working fine however after being stored in my closet now it is stuck on record and i cant figure out how to turn it off?

Bring up the main menu and the check the timer recordings list. If there are any delete them all, it should come out of record. If it doesn't you have more than likely a faulty mode switch, which would need to be replaced by someone well trained in the model.

I have a vwm-400 Sanyo video cassette recorder. The clock on the recorder is set to the correct time! I programmed time recording for a set time to record a program on TV, but timed recording is not...

Hi,
After programing/ feeding record time in VCR, press Timer button on VCR so it will go into standby mode with Timer indication. VCR will automatically turn On at set time and will record program of set channel.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Recording

You should set the VCR to the channel which you want to record. It doesn't matter what channel the TV is on. In your case, just turn off the TV.

I making assumptions about your setup. If you can turn on your VCR and TV and watch the channel that you will be recording, then just turn your TV off, and you should be good.

Only caveat, some VCRs must be turned off while waiting for the recording timer to activate (presumably, so as not to interfere with someone actively watching a program).

Recording

Does it record when you are simultaneously watching a program? if yes, then recording circuits are OK. It is definitely a problem of settings. Try doing it again step by step. And before you program for timer recording, make sure that the VCR clock is set for correct time.
