No water coming out of water filter

The water is not going from the plastic water tank reservoir into the internal chilling tank. Therefore the internal tank is empty. I have changed the filter to no avail. When I put the resevoir in position 1 bubble comes up but water does not continue to flow into the internal tank. If I remove the reservoir I can push up the valve and the water runs fine. The motor still runs when i push the button.
I put this under electric kettles as i could not find water filters.

Where is the filter

The filter is located in the water tank. There is a plastic insert that will hold the water filter in the tank.

My Amana french door/bottom freezer is leaking water. Did the procedure with hot water the drain in back of the freezer, although it seemed clear of ice. That didn't help. The leaking stops when I...

Two possibilities:
1. A cracked plastic tube. These will leak whenever there's a call for water - either the chilled water dispenser, or re-filling the icemaker tray (two seperate tubes). Pay particular attention to anywhere the tubes are clamped to the chassis; anywhere they're routed near or under the refrigeration unit; and near the solenoid valve - especially if there's a tight loop in the tube there.
2. A bad (leaking) connection where one of the tubes exits the water valve. Again, these will leak whenever the valve is activated.

Those plastic tubes don't last forever. I've replaced many of them for the same symptoms. They're known to simply deteriorate with age.
Manuf's make good money selling replacement tubing kits.

No cold water

Hi,

Most refrigerators with a water dispenser have a reservoir (tank) to chill the water before it gets to the dispenser. This tank is typically behind the crisper bins so the water should be the same temperature as the refrigerator. The water may start out room temperature but should be cold by the time you have filled 1/2 a glass or so.

Saying all that, there are a few newer models out there that have reduced the cost of the refrigerator by eliminating the reservoir. If you take the crisper drawers out and look behind them and do not see a tank or coil of tubing then you do not have chilled water.

I hope this helps clarify.

Filtered water not dispensing - ice is still coming through okay - when pressing the water dispenser button all you hear is a noise as if water should be flowing

Your water line is probably froze. Look in the back of the refrig section behind the shelves and see if there is a plastic tank, or a coil of plastic wire. That is where your water runs, so it will be chilled. If you are hearing a noise when you push the lever then that is your water valve, and that is good. You need to defrost that line.

Amana side by side

Undissolved minerals can appear when ice cubes are added to chilled drinking water. Freezing tap water causes dissolved minerals to solidify and scatter, giving a cloudy appearance. When ice cubes melt, any undissolved minerals settle to the bottom. These mineral compounds in our drinking water are naturally occurring and safe.
Sometimes we see black particles which can be the non-stick surface of the ice mold flaking off.

The coil of plastic tubing behind the crisper is your chilled water reservoir for the water dispenser. They use a coil instead of a tank because it chills the water more quickly and ensures good turnover of the water with less chance of stagnation.

Back reservoir

Kiwy, your part number for this reservour is 4838jj1003a. Since they had a lot of problems with this tank they replaced it with coiled plastic tubing. You can find the replacement part at repairclinic.com, it will show you a picture of it. Or you can go down to your local hardware store, buy some 1/4 inch plastic tubing for water and 2 quarter inch John guest fittings to hook it up. That's all it is now, is coiled plastic tubing to chill the water. Catriver.
