If you interrogate the error log you may be able to isolate the error to one program - failing that you will have to go through with a 'blanket' repair - do not ignore the IE update if you have another browser set as default. IE is coded with Yahoo Messenger and used for everything - downloading files - signing in - games etc etc

Check your windows system and repair as much as possible

    Sorry - don't know what happened - the full answer failed to load - try again

    If you interrogate the error log you may be able to isolate the error to one program - failing that you will have to go through with a 'blanket' repair - do not ignore the IE update if you have another browser set as default. IE is coded with Yahoo Messenger and used for everything - downloading files - signing in - games etc etc

    At this stage it may be worth getting your window files as good as you can using a windows scan and repair

    VISTA OS

    Go to Start > Type in .....cmd........right-click on cmd and select "Run as administrator".
    After the cursor paste in : SFC /SCANNOW and press your 'Enter' key.You can type it in, of course. but note the space between SFC and /

    This procedure will scan Vista's protected system files
    and attempt to repair or replace missing or corrupt files.
    At the end of the report type in .......Exit
    Hit the 'Enter' key

    You will now have to uninstall and re-install one or more of the following - depending on the error report
    * Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows Vista
    * Java Runtime Environment
    * DirectX Runtime Web Installer
    * Visual C Runtime 2005
    * Visual C Runtime 2010
    * Microsoft .NET Framework 4
    * Internet Explorer 8

This will work with Vista too. use the link to download yahoo instant messenger version 9. You must first remove any previous installations using the Add/Remove Programs in Windows. then run this .exe file to start the install.

Cannot install my yahoo messenger,it says application configuration is incorrect

Hai,
The formula for successful downloads and log ins is a squeaky clean browser
I downloaded a new browser ( firefox) to install messenger 9 and it works fine ( vista home premium and messenger 9 ) If you do not uninstall your old messenger you will have conflicts download ccleaner ( free software ) run the cleaner through a couple of times including the registry section from the left hand toolbar uninstall messenger, restart your pc, download firefox and install using firefox Get in the habit of cleaning your browser with ccleaner before shutting down for the night. Yahoo messenger 9 on vista

Hi,
Yahoo! Messenger for Vista can be downloaded from Yahoo! site, but it’s a small initial setup loader that also include annoying features such as Yahoo! Toolbar. To directly download the standalone installer package which can also be used for offline installation, use the following link.
ymsgr_vista_setup.2008.01.11.428_us.exe

Hope this helps

Yahoo Messenger 9 Vista Installation Problems

Use info below to delete present version completely then if you want to try 9 again and are using Vista go here for help.
http://www.ymessengerblog.com/blog/2008/10/27/installing-90-on-windows-vista/

Messenger 9 for Vista users and XP users with 9, Mess 9 has many unsolved problems and missing features that messenger 8.1 or 8.0 has. Plus now the updated Windows Firewall will not let Messenger download correctly.And is causing 9 users to have problems now.. The only option that might help is going to the control panel and turning off the firewall to download and install then turning it back on.Then click on windows fire wall, Exceptions tab. make sure messenger is checked,if not listed then add it to the list.then click save.
.If the fire wall still causes problems,then revert back to 8.1 or 8.0 these and all versions of messenger can be found here; http://www.freecreed.com/ymsgr-archive.html
You need to remove version 9,or present version, 1st to get another version to work. To remove Messenger version Use Unwise located middle of page of Messenger Folder.Make sure Automatic is checked! then continue to uninstall..Or use control panel ,Vista-program features or XP-add/remove this is the 2nd best way. If you just delete the Yahoo file to remove messenger,you will also lose the shared file that contains things needed on other Yahoo sites. Your contacts are stored online But if you want to save your old messages archives,they are saved on your PC in the messenger file you are about to delete.Go here and copy them to a new folder
Start>my computer>c:drive>program files>yahoo>messenger>profiles>(your ID)>archive>messages
The latest update for Flash Player to #10 Is causing things to not load,Can not log in,or Messenger just crashes upon opening..Use the link below for a download of Flash player # 9.0.124.0 . You have to remove the present flash player,add/remove programs in control panel,Reboot then download from here. http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
