Snooker rules,I missed the 5 ball and hooked my apposition, is that a foul hook.

In most rules YES but depends what rules you are playing... as there are different ones from around the world but ive always played with that rule - if ya miss you lose! and its fun!!!

This is covered in Rule 18-5, Ball at Rest Moved by Another Ball. There is no penalty to either player as long as this procedure is followed: The person whose shot struck the ball at rest plays his ball as it lies; the person whose ball was moved returns the ball to its original position.

There are 3 basic rules:

1. - Tables come with 9 balls, so you play best out of 9 (first to 5)
   
2. - If a ball goes into the goal, it's a point (no matter who hits it in)
   
3. - No spinning the rods!
   

The hook or curve ball is commonly used by more advanced players.As the bowler releases the ball, the ball starts out straight and then"hooks" because of the rotation the bowler puts on the ball duringrelease. If you want to curve you'll need to use both of your fingers and thumbto spin the ball right before it touches the lane.

Here is some basic rules:

1. Wins: best out of 9, first to reach 5 goals

2. If there's a legal goal, it is a point, no matter who hit it

3. Can't spin the rods

4. Toss a coin to see who serves first

5. Before a score the ball has to be touched.

6. After a goal, the loser serves the ball

7. If the ball is stuck it is a "dead ball" and the team last scored upon serves

8. If the ball falls off the table the team last scored upon serves

9. Can't reach into the ball while it is in play

10. Can hold the ball for max 15 seconds in one place

Eight Ball is played with a cue ball and fifteen object balls, numbered 1 through 15. One player must pocket balls of the group numbered 1 through 7 and the other player has 9 thru 15. The player pocketing his group first and then pocketing the 8 ball wins the game.

Nine Ball is played with nine object balls numbered one through nine and a cue ball. On each shot the first ball the cue ball contacts must be the lowest-numbered ball on the table, but the balls need not be pocketed in order. If a player pockets any ball on a legal shot, he remains at the table for another shot, and continues until he misses, fouls, or wins the game by pocketing the 9-ball. After a miss, the incoming player must shoot from the position left by the previous player, but after any foul the incoming player may start with the cue ball anywhere on the table. Players are not required to call any shot. a match ends when one of the players has won the required number of games. You must count the number of reds balls on the table followed by value of remaining balls, go from lowest to highest.
