is your HD Fell? have you try to open it to another computer? try it first. if the computer you inserted is OK. there seems a problem regardless to your computer. try to reformat it and install Win XP pro. (SP3)
try to format using linux system...
like ubuntu...using gparted software...or kde partition manager
i've try in many times...and always solve using those software...even bad sector...
or maybe you can reformat using win server 2000 edition...
as i can understand you formatted using win xp so your drivers are not installed like VGA, sound driver. you must have your motherboard cd use that disk to install drivers.
hello, u may have to download the proper drivers plus data manager software from the manufacturers homepage, they have to fit vista!
if there are just ones for winxp or lower win/versions available, either try connecting phone to a winxp/interent-pc and go through driver-install and so on or think about downgrading your system to win-xp professional!
win vista is fine but not as reliable as winxp/pro!
it could be a heat realted, can you get to the cpu cooler? most laptops i have worked on this is accessible by lifting the keyboard.
Give it a blow out with a compressed air can and see if that works, if not try lifting the cpu cooler and cleaning off old thermal paste and reapplying new.
Open and back all important if you could still open you hard disk drive in another media like flash disks or cards then reformat and reinstall your new OS. do not ctrl A and copy all files when your return them back rememember to scan them using powerful antivirus software before you return data to your newly reformatted HDD or else you may be copying the virus back. Have it cleaned by PC with updated Antivirus programs.

Go to sony's web site and enter your model number. It will have a list of all drivers for your system. I could not find the model you listed. Please make sure it is the right model or let it autodetect your system. Here is the link to get you started. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/select-system.pl?DIRECTOR=DRIVER&PRODTYPE=24
It sure is possible.
I would take it back to them and demand that WINXP Pro is put back in there and it boot correctly
They saved about 50 bucks putting in WINXP Home.
Sounds like a bunch of rookies trying to pull a fast one.
