Partner x8c problem

I have a problem with my ectaco Partner X8 translator, which after three years of using it stopped working. I even can not switch it on. The batteries are new. Do you know any repair service opportunities??? I want avoid buying just a new translator as they are really expensive and should be able to work a bit longer then three years only.

It does nothing

Yes. You should never remove the card while it's on - certainly not while it's starting up. I'm almost certain it was writing something to the card when you removed it, and now the data on it is corrupted. You'll have to either replace the card, or contact Ectaco to have them reprogram it.

Did you drop it, and when you shake it, it makes some kind of rattling noise? then you probably broke it.

Can I use my ectaco partner dictionary on my laptop? How do I install it?

My Partner P900 series is completely separate from he computer. You can only connect the two to add movies or music onto the partner. I think that was the idea Ectaco was going with, it is a self sufficient language device.

IF YOUR BATTERY IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. YOU MUST REPLCE IT WITH A NEW ONE. PLS. NOTE IF YOU HAVE A WARRANTY CARD FOR YOUR PHONE. JUST GO TO A AUTHORISED SERVICE CENTRE. THEY WILL REPLACE THE BATTERY FREE OF COST.

The translator does not switch on any more, (out of the blue)

Outlook not good.

Ectaco is adamant that all repairs must be sent directly to them. They do not authorize anyone else to perform repairs.

As a result, no one else can obtain parts or service manuals to repair these devices. So there are no other options for repair worldwide- only shipping the unit to Ectaco's Service Center in the United States (and only if it is under warranty).

You could try posting your problem on the Ectaco User Forum to see if any other users of this translator have a solution.

You will see many other users on the forum that are in your same situation, and most of them are equally frustrated.

Though I have not been able to personally fix your problem, I hope the information provided will be helpful in some way.
