SOURCE: Roland SPD-S Flash card error

The card I have always been using is now also suddenly giving this message. I found an old SanDisk 16MB and a 1GB SanDisk that works perfectly in my Boss 864 and they also give the same message. Trying to go into formatting brings the message "no card!"

SOURCE: roland Spd-s pad #1 change to different patches when hit

I'm an experienced SPD-S user and there is no option that allows the SPD-S to produce random sounds from the same PAD.

I can think of 3 reasons why this may be:

  1. In patch mode, a PAD can be assigned with 2 different sounds (wave A & wave B). Wave A will be produced on soft hits while wave B will be produced on hard strokes. To ensure only 1 sound is produced by a specific PAD, make sure no sound is selected in wave B (only wave A will be produced regardless on the force of the stroke).
  2. Your PAD has a very strong and moving effect turned on (such as a phaser or a filter) that makes your wave to sound different between hits. Turn off the effect (press on the Effect button until the light is off) then hit the pad again to see if it fixes your problem.
  3. If none of the previous 2 solution fixes your prublem then your SPD-S is probably malfunctionning.

SOURCE: I have a Roland HP 2e digital piano - Foot pedal problem

The ROLAND pianos USUALLY require that you use a normally closed sustain pedal.

MANY pedals are the opposite and close when pressed. SOMETIMES you can open the pedal and reverse the way the switch works.

SOURCE: Roland Spd-s pads not working

Check for a cracked PCB internally from the two defective pads, or if the wires have detached from the trigger. You may not need parts, but if you do, it really depends on how helpful the Roland distributor in your area is as to whether you will have any luck getting them, or you may have to go trough a local authorized repair shop.
Good luck.

I've recently purchased a Roland foot pedal for my casio privia px-300 keyboard. When playing a note, even though the pedal is not pressed, the note sustains. When I press the foot pedal down, it cuts...

Sorry, but Roland uses the opposite sense switch. They use normally closed where Casio requires normally open contacts. SOMETIMES one can rewire the pedal internally, but you have to be mechanically and electrically inclined to do that.

Hi, i purchased yamaha fc15 sustain pedal yesterday. when i connected this pedal to my Roland E-09 keyboard through foot switch port, it activate Start/Stop button ( of arranger & song controls ) and...

The answer is NO... Roland uses the opposite sense switches on foot pedals... They use NIRMALLY CLOSED and your Yamaha is a NORMALLY OPEN switch.

SOMETIMES you can open these pedals and find that the pedal has the opposite sense switch available and you only have to unsolder and move one wire to make it a NORMALLY CLOSED pedal.

How to reset my roland spd-s

You can reset Roland SPD-S by using Roland SPD-S utility CD supplied with product.
If you can't locate (or lost) the CD that is included with the SPD-S which contains the factory data, you can download the file here:

Click the downloads tab and select the "SPD-S Factory Restore Data" (PC or Mac) link.

Try the follwing:

press <SYSTEM>

press <PAGE+> until CONTROL SW is shown.

press <ENTER>

Parameter: CtrlSW

press your FootSwitch (FS-5U) so the indicator-LED on your SPD-S for the footswitch is lit (or hold down <SHIFT> while pressing <PAGE> until footSW is lit)

Change the value of CtrlSW by pressing <+> / <-> until PATCH+ is shown on the display.
