Hi, LB. There are a number of different remedies for getting stuff off iron hotplates. I suggest you go to Youtube and, in the search box type: clean iron plate. You'll find videos of people doing just that.
Good luck!
Try using an old toothbrush, as it is stiff enough to clean most of the deposits, yet soft enough not to damage the thermocouple and flame seat. Just make sure that the unit has cooled down first!
at the end of the pipe that loosely goes into the burner assembly, there is a nut or metal part that has a small hole that the gas goes through ... that is the "gas jet" .. they have different size holes for natural and lp gas .. the manufacturer should have both .. usually it just unscrews and the new one screws in its place .. there would be one for each burner .. if there is only one burner then you need just one replacement jet with a hole size suitable for Lp gas .. you might be able to get the new jet from a local hardware store if you take the old one with you so they can get the size and style right ..
hi my name is mark, yes most manual gas valves can be disassembled and lubed. you will need gas valve grease. remember a little goes a long way and shut off the gas to the unit before disassembly.
