How to repair ai file?Place the damaged Illustrator file in a new Illustrator file. Important: This solution doesn't work if you didn't select Create Compatible PDF File in the Illustrator Native Format Options dialog box when you saved the original file. On the Macintosh platform, the damaged Illustrator file may appear dimmed in the Place dialog box, but you will still be able to select it and place it in the new Illustrator file.
In Illustrator, choose File > New.
Select the appropriate size and color mode, and then click OK.
Choose File > Place.
In the Place dialog box, choose All Formats from the Files of Type pop-up menu (Windows) or choose All Documents from the Show pop-up menu (Mac OS), choose the damaged file, and then click Place.

1. Run a full anti-virus scan. If possible, tell it to run the scan while the computer is booting up. Afterwards, try opening the program again. If it fails, try Step 2.
2. Go to Control Panel/Programs and features. Locate the list of installed programs and scroll down to Adobe. Click on Adobe and there should be an option to Repair or Uninstall. Choose Repair, if available. Otherwise, uninstall then re-install the software. (Sometimes, Windows Update is known to "break" an installed program; sad, but true).
Hi,
The AI file is Adobe Illustratorfile and created by Adobe Photoshop application, as per my advice you can try to open your corrupted or heavily damaged AI file with different Adobe Photoshop version because it can be happen your AI file is not completely corrupted, may be any chance to view your AI file if this technique not work then I personally recommend a third party tool I give you a link where you can download free AI viewer software and you can open and convert you AI file by this link.
I want to mention that the activation server for the Adobe CS2 products were removed and hence the CS2 and previous version can not be activated now.
If you have purchased the Illustrator CS2 then you can contact Adobe support and then they would provide you an alternate to get the Illustrator CS 2 working.
Do you mean Adobe Illustrator? If you go to www.adobe.com you can download a free trial version that works. If you mean that you want to open an Adobe file like *.psd for Photoshop, *.ai for Illustrator or Adobe *.pdf for Acrobat then you must have an application that can open that file which the aforementioned url will gladly provide. ~Steve Medley
