The cable standard provides performance of up to 250 MHz and is suitable for 10BASE-T / 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T / 1000BASE-TX (Gigabit Ethernet). It is expected to suit the 10GBASE-T (10Gigabit Ethernet) standard, although with limitations on length if unshielded Cat 6 cable is used. Category 6 cable can be identified by the printing on the side of the cable sheath.

Cat5e is suitable for 10/100/1000baseT ethernet for 100 meters, when properly installed.
Cat 6 is also good for 10 gig ethernet for 37 meters, but that is pretty short, unless just in a server room.
There is no Cat 6e, but Cat 6A will be good for 10/100/1000/10GbaseT ethernet for 100 meters.
Unshielded Twisted Pair has no ground shield around the wires. It is the standard in the US, where most network standards were defined. There are extensions to the standards to allow for the more common in Europe, Shielded Twisted Pair.
Some Cat-6 cables are too large and may be difficult to attach to 8P8C connectors without a special modular piece and are technically not standard compliant. If components of the various cable standards are intermixed, the performance of the signal path will be limited to that of the lowest category. The maximum allowed length of a Cat-6 cable is 100 meters (330 ft) when used for 10/100/1000baseT and 37 meters (120 ft) when used for 10GbaseT. This applies for UTP cables only. Shielded Cat 6 and Cat 7 cables are capable of 100m.....sodeep

What is the maximum length we can go for HDMI connection with loss of data?

There is no declared max length, although with all wires there is signal attenuation so using higher quality cables will get you better signals at longer lengths. You can also get extenders you can hook in between cables to regenerate the signal so you dont have to break the bank on the really high end cables

Pls my linksys switch SD216 looses contact with my internet and it killing my business, pls what should i do to resolve this issue thanks.

Hi,
This problem may be caused by your cabling.
Here are the right distances for your Switch.
From Switch to Swich or Hub you have a maximum distance of100 meters(328 feet)
From Hub to Hub max 5 meters(16,4 feet)
From Switch or Hub to Computer max 100 meters(328 feet)
When you connect your network devices, make sure you don't exceed the maximum cabling distances.
Another problem could be the power adapter, this could be damaged;Note:using a different power adapter may result in damage to the Switch.

I have two des-1005d network switches. i want to communicate betwwen them with a cat5e cable. the cable is made as cross through and distance is about 70 meters. with one switch pc is connected and at...

Max distance for Cat5e cable is about 100M, but that is the best case scenario, essentially a straight line, down a building. If you have any kind of interference, like flourescent lighting, high voltage lines running parallel to the ethernet cable, the distance will be much less than 100M. Although it looks like you have 60 feet to spare, anything interfering with the cables will cut the signal down. Try to move the switches closer together, make the cable from pc to switch longer and ADSL modem to switch longer and cable between switches shorter. Use a known good straight through ethernet cable, as modern switches don't require crossover cables.

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_5e#Maximum_cable_segment_length

According to the ANSI/TIA/EIA standard for category 5e cable, (TIA/EIA 568-5-A[5]) the maximum length for a cable segment is 100 meters (328 feet). If longer runs are required, the use of active hardware such as a repeater, or a switch, is necessary.[6] [7] This 100 meter limit is all inclusive. According to some authors,[who?] the practical limit for permanently installed cable is about 90 meters, leaving 5 meters at each end for the patch cables that connect the end equipment to the wall panel.

Hope this helps.

What is the length of 10baseT STP cable

According to Specification, maximum length is 100 meters when using Cat 5. Of course, that doesn't say it can't be (much) shorter, and it may work just fine on longer runs provided that the environment doesn't have much electrical noise and a quality cable is used. But, in the strictest sense, you should not exceed 100 meters.

My Zebra Zm 400 keeps saying Pause Error Condition paper out however it is set to Direct Thermal. How do I get it back to the ready state?

make sure that the maximum lenght for the label is set to something greater than the physical length of the label. I was having this issue with a 4x3 label. As soon as I increased the maximum lenght to 5 inches it worked.

The maximum length (maximum certifiable length) for CAT 5 patch or crossover cables is 328 feet (100 meters). Beyond that, you run the risk of signal loss and other complications.
