SOURCE: drive pulley won't come off engine shaft

put the nut back on were it is even with the stud and hit with a hammer while pulling on the pulley

use a cutting wheel and cut through the bearing as far as you can without damaging the drive shaft.Then get a big hammer and a chisel drive the chisel into the cut and break the bearing.

this is a pressed unit. honestly youre better off either purchasing the whole drive line or go buy the bearing new and take it to a transmission or drive line shop. they wont charge that much to remove and replace the bearing and all youll have to do is r and r.

theres a collar on the youk.remove it and tap it out its splits the tow pieces of drive shaft.use alot of pb blaster and make sure you grease the youk theres a grease fitting there

You checked for a piece of post or rock stuck in the tines?

You should be able to turn the PTO shaft by hand. Suggest you disconnect the PTO shaft from the tractor and make sure the problem is the tiller.

The tiller end of the pto shaft has both a slip clutch and a shear pin to protect the gear box and tine shaft drive gear. See attachment.

If you are unable to turn the PTO shaft by hand with it disconnected from the tractor then likely there is something jambed in the tines or internal damage to the gear box or tine shaft gear drive.

Ford 5000. Why doesn't it seem to have enough hp to pto to run a 6 ft bush hog?
Will the pto engauge with out the brushhog hooked up to the pto . Can you turn the drive shaft on the brushhog when it is unhooked from the tractor is any thing bound up around the shaft for blade .if the tractors pto will ingage with out the hog hooked up i would say u may have a bearing locking up or something bound up under neath the hog if not bad bearing mor than l?kely

I have removed the pto shaft from a ford 4610, on the advice that there was no thrust washer which could slip on removing the shaft I am now trying to re insert the shaft...
Get a helper and have them crank engine with starter while you giggle wiggle the pto and don't force it.

Kubota zd28 mower was running fine put away but now PTO wont engage.
if your saying that pto wont do anything , that's either an electrical short or a broken belt , in rare cases the clutches go too , now if your saying the pto engauges and stalls the engine or makes horrible noises , then that's a bearing , im betting the deck shaft bearings are in need of some serious grease work

possible that the teeth of the pto dog are worn to a taper and not fully engaged
the lever for the engagement is moving the full travel to engage

I have a noise in the clutch housing on a caseih 485tractor is it the throw out bearing
throw out bearing noise is from when the bearing is under load. If it is idling and there is no noise but the noise comes as soon as you start ty press the clutch pedal then it is the bearing Tractors run a shaft within a shaft to run the pto and it is sometimes the bearing for the shaft in the shaft(tube ) that fails and allows the shaft to hit on the tube
run a series of test situations and it will become evident as each test is done ( clutch out , clutch in, clutch full in , clutch half in for pto etc.

I have a pto shaft that has boke in my case david brown 885 and i have it torn down to the pto shaft right now i just need to know how to get the shaft out
Take the gears out.Bell housing side of pto shaft, insert punch in hole and use allen wrench to remove plug on shaft end. use punch in allen screw hole to drive shaft out of housing (don't mess up the threads!!)

The electric pto keeps kicking off, after about 10 to 15 seconds. shut the pto off turn it back on, then does it again, & again, ect.
The PTO motor may be bad, but first check the motor shaft for debris caught on it, check the drive wheels, the drive chain and lubricate the wheel bearings and chain(ATF or Snthetic oil)a few drops go a long way. A few drops of oil on the motor shaft where is goes into the motor might help as well. Electric parts usually do not like water(you may need to remove a cover to access the motor and bearings)blow the motor with an air hose if available to remove debris from it. I hope this is helpful the model number and make would make a diagnosis easier on this end. Thanks, SP
