This will require you to take the center console out for a better view and to more easily access and adjust the hand brake.

the book is correct it is under the hand brake itself and very easy to adjust once you get the console out of the way its held in by screws and you will have to take it totaly out.

you need two wrenches to adjust the parking brake and that's it.. remember to leave it in the down position when adjusting it and pull it up after about every 3 full turns turns just to check to see how tight you have it. you don't want to over tighten it
the emergency brake will be on all the time and wear out the brake pads. this sounds harder than it really is. the hardest part of the whole thing is getting the console out of the way once that is done you will be able to see how its done

How to adjust rear brake and handbrake on Hyundia i10

look in your centre console between the seats and remove the bottom of it this would usually just pull out then there should be the end of your handbrake cables with a 10mm adjustable nut that you can get a spanner on ,obviously make sure your car can not roll and release your handbrake wind the nut in a couple of turns then try your handbrake ,keep doing this until it reaches your desired height
Hope this helps Nick

Cannot locate where to adjust the handbrake on a hyundai Elantra

If you look under the car there should be a cable leading from the front between the seat area to the back tires. The cable should make a "y" before it reaches the tires. There should be a nut on a bolt that you can use to tighten or loosen the handbrake. bring the handbrake to the second click and then make the cable tight with no slack but no bind on it either. When you release the handbrake the cable should be loose but will begin to engage on the second click. You can make it tighter to make it more sensitive if you like or loosen it to make it less sensitive.

How do i adjust 1996 excel handbrake

first thing to check is the rear shoe linings for wear. if they are to worn the handbrake would be very loose. this is where you adjust the brake. there is a shoe adjustment in the drum.

I just got my handbrake adjusted in my hyundai excel. whenever i pull up on a slope it still rolls back with the handbrake on

If the hill is steep or is covered with dirt or sand then you may not have a problem. Did you park there before and it held? Do you use the hand-brake all the time? Have there been times that you forgot to release the parking brake? When the shoes were adjusted were the shoes inspected before the adjustment? The tech. should have looked for problems.
