Where could I get my 1960's Preway gas wall oven restored in the Vancouver BC area?

No only the house circuit protection.

Try contacting them directly- I bet they might be able to help. Please don't take this into your own hands and attempt to rig something up, unless you're a professional. Especially when you're smelling gas during pre-heat. Here's their contact info:

I Also have a wall oven by preway in a 1955 spartan trailer, basic same problem, I am told the control assembly that you turn to set temperature needs to be replaced, if it is adjusted to far on some part behind the controll knob it will screw up the new one also, Spencers appliance in Portland Oregon worked on mine years ago and was able to get parts, Good Luck

If there is a smell of gas PLEASE STOP USING IT you risk fire or explosion or both. Please get a registered Gas-fitter to look at this. If you can Turn OFF the Gas at the Wall/Outlet. Until it can be looked at. If you smell gas it is very dangerous.

I am not sure. However, people in our area of sc, have had burner problems because a local utility added propane to their natural gas because they got it a bargain. guy

is there tension on the door at the point where it doesnt seal,is the spring broken/missing,when the door opens and closes is there enough travel from point a to point b inside the cabinet on both sides of the hinge area, is the sping loaded mechanism damaged .
