2005 Mitsubishi Triton with 4m40 tapping sound after head replacement?

You may have a hyd. Lifter going bad and losing oil pressure. Remove the rocker cover start the engine and see which one is not oiling. Just have a rag to keep oil from pumping out on you

I have a 2002 jeep liberty help with the tapping noise and stalling

The tapping is the valves hitting against the buyer upper part of engine. The stalling is most likely the computer shutting down engine. You might have engine damage. The tapping comes and goes according to engine rpm the higher the rpm the louder the tapping. If I was have it towed to u mechanic and have them run test engine might be beyond repair

MY VAN RAN OUT OF OIL WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON.. NOW IT'S MAKING A LOUD TAPPING NOISE SOMEONE TOLD ME IT'S MY TAPPET'S I NEED TO FIX MY VAN IM A SINGEL MOM WITH 2 BOYS

Did you try topping it off with oil and seeing if the noise goes away? If so, it sounds like you may have some internal engine damage, and without taking it apart, it is difficult to say exactly what is wrong without listening to it myself. I would say it's probably time for an engine rebuild if the oil doesn't clear this tapping sound up.

Tapping noise when car starts

Sounds like it could be your valves ticking. Sometimes this is caused by oil not getting to the hydraulic valve lifters for a couple seconds until the oil pump can get the oil pumped up to the top of the motor where the valves are. You might consider asking your mechanic to run a slightly thinner weight oil in your engine on your next oil change. Also, be sure to get frequent oil changes with new filter each time.

Hope that helps!

I have a 2003 Chevy Impala. I ran my car with no oil and now I'm hearing a loud ticking/knocking noise coming from under my valve cover. I added 2 bottles of oil after finding out that I didnt have any...

might be the valves have been damaged running without oil
- or the crankshaft / camshaft / main bearings
most probably you have to let the engine be rebuilt by a mechanic
(expect cost of more than US$ 2.000)
or get another (used) engine at a scrapyard 2003-chevy-wutfveiel3ypko01ydor435x-5-0.jpg 2003-chevy-wutfveiel3ypko01ydor435x-5-2.jpg

Trying to figure out where the knocking is coming from, on engine

It all depends how loud the knock is. A tapping valve can be caused by low oil level, or dirty oil. Topping up or changing oil will solve the problem. A really loud valve tapping is abnormal. Cars sometimes make what you call a spark knock when accelerating hard. Extremely loud knock coming from deep within the engine is a bad sign, which means the engine has failed. Further examination would reveal metallic residue on the dipstick.

2001 Chevy Metro

Check Utube for lifter tap, valve tap, and rod bearing noise. If you pull each spark plug one at a time, plugging it back in after each one, the tapping will go away if it's a rod bearing. At any rate, on your next oil change add some valve-medic or similar additive for valve noise. Make sure you follow direction or you will get massive lifter tap if you pour it into a cold engine.
