Intermitten remote sensor issue

I have a 42" SP-R4232 Plasma. For some reason the TV stops reading the remote. When it works the blue light blinks, but when the TV stops reading the remotes for some reason the blue light stays solid. There is no other equipment in the room that could be causing interference. Tried several remotes and none of them work. Not sure what the issue is and I cant afford the service right now, honestly dont want to waste my money if there is a simple solution. Also I am using Comcast HDTV box with the tv. My new Samsung DLP 61 inch tv has a similar problem.  The remote works, and then after it warms up for a while the tv won't respond to the remote.

I have a Samsung Plasma SPR4232 with the same issue. Its not the remote as both the remote and universal remotes work, but the tv sensor just stops working.

This is really irritating as Samsung techs were at my house twice found no issue but yet it worked when they left.

Now that its out of Warranty Samsung wont help at all!!!

What is wrong with this, how can I fix it myself?

Evidently 2 good remotes point at the problem being the remote sensor on the TV itself. I have about 4 remotes I can adjust volume w/ including the remote that came w/ my samsung. The TV exhibits the same behavior w/ all of them.

Per the samsung site, the "test" for this (remote vs sensor) is to us a digital camera, (including the kind that's on most cell phones) to "see" if the remote lights up. Just point it at the camera/phone, and press any button. You should see a bright flashing light on the camera/phone's LCD screen. If not, REJOICE! All you need to replace is the remote or batteries in it. If you do see the light, good luck if you're not in warranty. I've been unable to find any procedures for replacing this kind of item.

Try taking your battery cover off and roll the batteries with your finger while watching that blue light. if works there intermittently then take a small screwdriver and put some more stretch in the battery springs.. dont break it now. also a cotton swab with alcohol or wd-40 on the contacts help.

My Samsung SP-R4232 has some type of power supply issue. I called a tech who came out and verified it. He thought it was the main power board, but wanted $400 to fix it when I found the part online for...

U replaced the tv power supply board, the board u replaced, that is the board where the power a/c cord plug into it?Check ur old power supply board, examines all parts, see if u have any capactors parts are bulging or puffing up on it tops.Yes,than it is power supply board issue. But by replacing the power supply board only get 50/50 chances for the tv to work.Might be the problems, might not be the power supply board issue alone some times. The chances are tv Tuner signal board is dead also. That the board, where the tv incomming broadcasting signal cable plug into it.Try website like Ebay.com to buy a refurbish tv Tuner signal board for the replacement.

SSP-R4232 Plasma TV, blue light on, but tv wont turn on.

At this point it appears that your main board is probably bad. You most likely have a 5 volt scource going to the main board but its not powering up the set. The main board is part number BN94-00796A.
You might want to have a technician look at the TV to verify this as the issue before purchasing it. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you.

Samsung sp-r4232 power button blinks 4 times but tv wont turn on

I have this TV. My father in law tried to turn it on one day and it started making a clicking sound and never came on. So he went out and bought a new tv and gave it to me. It came on when I brought it home and worked for a couple weeks. Then just the other day it stopped working. When you hit the power button the light around it blinks four times and then you here a clicking sound. TV does not come on. Took the back panel off and I don't see any damaged caps or fuses. b435b80e-6d09-419f-a021-9b8a430e0a74.jpg

Sounds like to me the comcast HDTV box is the issue if you are using that to change channels. Let me know.

Electricity went out in town, tv won't turn back on.

On this type of problem, the first thing I check is the AC line fuse on the power supply. Follow the Ac plug wire to the power supply board and where it plugs in, you will find the fuse. If: Then: It checks bad. Replace it. It goes out again. Call a Servicer. It is good. Check for the five volts that goes to the Main PCB. No five volts, change the power suppy (SMPS) Five volts is there, more than likely the Main needs replaced and SMPS. For a Samsung Servicer in your area: 1-800-SAMSUNG
