How do I reduce memory and CPU usage for google chrome?
I have disabled all of my extensions. I have tried using shift + esc to monitor usage, but it is erratic and does not account for the 100% usage I am seeing. The same goes for task manager, which shows 100% but is only accounting for about ~50%. I am watching movies online, so shockwave is also functioning, and chrome shows 4 .exes running, despite the one tab (I am assuming all of those are required for the movie to run).
Re: How do I reduce memory and CPU usage for google...
I don't see anything here that points to the issue being Google Chrome. You may have an infection or another program could be causing this as well. I just helped a customer with the same issue last week - turned out to be McAfee.

I assume it's normal for the RAM usage to peak up when browsing 100+ images. Check the version of Chrome too. Try to exit other programs which are running in the background. Disable other chrome extension which you don't use in chrome. Use some Tuneup programs to tuneup your Computer. Here are the Links. CCleaner, Advance Syestem Care.
"Aw, Snap!"
IssueYou may see the "Aw, Snap!" message if a webpage crashes unexpectedly.
SolutionsIf a webpage crashes unexpectedly, you can simply reload the page. If you're seeing the "Aw, Snap!" message for every page you visit, try the solutions below:
Some anti-virus or firewall applications, such as Symantec Endpoint Protection, can prevent Google Chrome from working properly. Test whether such applications on your computer are causing the error by turning them off temporarily. Then try opening Google Chrome again. If you are able to open the browser, you'll need to create an exception in your anti-virus or firewall settings for Google Chrome. Once you've done so, you can then re-enable the applications. Conflicting applications that users have reported include the following:
Spyware Doctor
Comodo firewall
McAfee Enterprise
McAfee Virus Scan
Try disabling your extensions one by one to see if a particular extension is causing the problem.
Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar.
Select Tools.
Select Extensions.
On the Extensions page, click Disable for the extension you'd like to temporarily remove.
Go back to your list of extensions at any time to re-enable disabled extensions. You may need to refresh the page in order to use extensions you've re-enabled.
If the browser continues to display the "Aw, Snap!" message, your user profile may be corrupted. To create a new user profile, follow these steps:
Exit Chrome.
Find the "Default" folder. It's usually located in the following locations:
Windows
Windows XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\
Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default
My friend, i understood your problem....this problem is due to low virtual memory of your computer. Because Facebook is flash based site so that kind of problem occurs.
You have not specified your computer capabilities such as RAM, Processor,FSB etc..
go to hyttp://xviruslab.blogspot.com and go to System Utilities find PC Booster download and install and run a auto run it will clear all your problems
Try to monitor the CPU usage before opening CROME. If it is normal before opening it then there is some process under CROME which takes you CPU usage report to GOOGLE on this. and remove it through Add/Remove programmes under control panel.
Try to use Firefox instead of CROME.
If it happens again then there is some thing wrong with OS( most probabaly Spyware or trozen).
press ctrl+shift+esc. Click processes , then select view all processes. Find out which one is using the resources. Then press windows key+ r. Type msconfig. And disable the program.
