My samsong tv ps-42p2sb stoped working

yes it does seem to be a tuner problem , I also wonder what happens when you use the auto channel finder and tuner usually found in the set up section of the menu ? As well as was your TV working before and receiving input via the antennae but has now stopped working in this regard ? I also noted that attaching an analog to digital converter box worked fine , so your TV is capable of receiving a signal via that method , dose the converter box use your antennae input jack or a video jack to send the converted signal into your TV ? if it is using your antennae jack then it may not be a tuner problem .

It sounds like the remote turn on wire from the radio no longer outputs power. You can try connecting the the remote turn on wire from the amp to the accessory power of the radio. Place a 10 amp fuse in line just in case the issue is the amp.

Remote testers are available (5 dollars) or you can take to Radio Shack to determine if problem is remote or set.

all sets have a remote receiver usually on front that receives the infrared signals from the remote===either the remote control or the receiver is bad.

Had same problem - turned off Adaptive Lumina, Backlight control, and Ambient light sensors on the Vizio advanced picture settings and the Dish remote now works. Vizio was emitting an infared signal that interfered with the Dish remote signals with these settings on. TV still works and looks just fine... But best of all Dish remote works too.

Try these tips:

Connecting your Cable box through Coaxial to the TV.
1- Turn on the TV and the Cable Box, secure all the coaxial connectors.
2- Press the "TV" button to be sure you are in the TV mode.
3- You need to set the TV in a specific channel for receiving the signal from the Cable Box, usually they are channel 3 or 4. Please press in the TV's remote those channels numbers and check if you are receiving signal about the Cable Box in any of them.
4- If you do, afterwards remember to continue using the Cable Box remote to change the channels instead of the TV one.

Connecting your Cable Box through RCA to the TV
1- Turn on the TV and the Cable Box, secure all the RCA wires.
2- Press the "TV" button to be sure you are in the TV mode.
3- Press the "Input" button to go to AV1 or AV2 depending where the Cable box is connected.
4- You should be receiving signal instantaneously after you have changed the Input and keep using the Cable Box remote for changing the channels.

I too have this issue I beleive what is happening is the integrated tuner is not locking on to the channel because of a weak signal and then sending that error message . I am going to replace the cable from the splitter to this tv and see what happens. I have another new tv just installed from that splitter and it has all chanels. Remember to RE- run the locate all channels after anything is done to the cable splitter etc.

the function light dose not represent a remote command, it simply flashes when it detects a infra red signal of any wavelenth. if the box is not turning on it sounds like a defective nor or nand flash rom. i believe that the box has a j-tag so maybe you re flash it?

Try plugging a video rca cable into the "monitor" on the back of the mixer (second down or something like that) and then to your tv. This pumps the osd signal to the tv where you can manipulate the menu options.

Think this analogy:
remote = keyboard
receiver = computer
tv = monitor

You need a connection ultimately to the tv for the osd to work.

If it has not tuner/antenna input then it is just a monitor. At that point you will need a cable box,sat box or something to provide a picture scource to it.
