I have a MGR5765QDW purchased May 2007, large grate that covers the stove top element finish had melted off before warranty expired, so we had it replaced under warranty, now it has happened again. Finish is actually bubbled and peeling off, it looks unsightly and also causes the gas flame to spark when the peices break off. Why would this happen?

do you think if i took the grates into a metal finisher they could blast off the old finish and apply new?

Boil element caught on fire and melted.

If element caught on fire, I would suspect stove needs cleaning. Do that then elements should not smoke for long. (I hope all moisture was removed from stove!!!)

most likely the element needs replacing, check for arcing holes, melted spots. check fuses, normaly under cover at top of stove. element is easy to replace(a few screws), unplug stove when doing so.

YOU DO NOT HAVE PURCHASE A NEW ONE , TAKE NOTE OF TYPE OF ELEMENTS AND ,I E LARGE/ OR SMALL, AND MODEL NUMBER AND CONTACT SUPPLIER FOR REPLACEMENTS, THEN YOU CAN TAKE OUT BROKEN ELEMENTS AND REPLACE WITH NEW ONES.

The black coating on the glass top of my Amanda range is is flaking off and turning clear around the burgers what's that all about. This problem started the first day I turned the elements on. The stove is...

The finish on these cooktops WILL eventually change colors and fade over years of use. However, the finish should not be peeling off, flaking, or changing colors now. That is not normal. If the stove is only two months old, the manufacturers warranty should cover the cost to replace the entire cooktop at no cost to you. Please note, however, that is as long as you haven't done anything to cause the damage such as using the wrong cookware. Your owner's manual will explain what cookware can/cannot be used on these cooktops and what type of cleaners are recommended for keeping them looking good.

For example: You cannot use cast iron due to the weight and the heat retention. It may crack the cooktop. You also need to use pans that have a flat bottom. Any pans that are warped or have surfaces that do not cover the cooking surface evenly can cause uneven heating and also cause damage to the cook top.

As long as you have followed the use and care manual and have not done anything to cause the premature wear, I would contact the manufacturer and request a warranty service call.

If you have any questions, or require addtional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Large element burns high

The problem is in the switch not the element.

Large electric burners not working on lowest "LO" setting

Unplug the range and remove the problem elements.
With a flashlight, look inside the element receptacle for burned or disfigured terminals.
If they are damaged they can be replaced.
If the element terminals are OK you have defective switches.

Replaceing glass top on a stove

The top can be replaced but it is expensive. Your range is less than a year old call a local servicer to see if there may be warranty available to cover this problem it may not cost you anything. Good luck.

Frigidaire Electric Range model FEF366EC - Oven disabled

You probably have a short that is causing the stove not to heat up or you not to be able to control temperature settings. The stoves are made only to last as long as the warranty, and when it expires, the stove all of a sudden wants to break down. You might have to get a whole new stove.
