The battery is faulty but ac power works. also the hard drive is broken, but before i had no problem booting from a sd card, but now it does nothing anymore. please, can you help me? thanks, Bart
What does "Broken" mean? "does nothing" ?
If the screen doesn't show any light at all it could be a bad memory module. If your puter has two chips try just one or the other. If only one, you would need to try another chip, unless puter also has a soldered on memory chip on the motherboard.
Disconnect the power cord, remove the battery, and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.

the notebook cannot be charged without the charger and further more if it is not working properly ,try get a new one and it will work.i also recommend that you show it to a technician .
I've read this problem due to new hardware interferences with desktop computers, all they had to do is change a few pins around on the harddrives.. since this is a laptop, and is quite difficult and dodgy to access the hardware, the only other suggestion is to reinstall windows with a recovery disk, or windows CD-ROM.
Hope this helps :)

Your notebook does not see the proper boot files on your C drive. Many times the boot.ini has been corrupted.
You will need a Windows XP Install CD mounted in the CD Rom. When you boot the system you need to choose the CD as the boot device (if the notebbok does not do it by default) then typr R to enter the recovery console. Once you get the C: prompt you will need to create a new boot.ini file using the bootcfg command. See the following website for details in using the Recovery Console:

I'd like to help you, but it is very difficult to diagnose based on your description. We will need to gather more info as we try a few things.
1. Why are you reinstalling?
2. How old is the system?
3. Try the following & let me know the result: turn system back on. When the normal LED indicators are on, press & hold down the power button for 4+ seconds until everything goes off.
4. If step 3 worked, then turn power on & hit bios setup key (f2?).
5. See if HDD is detected.

Looks like a battery problem. Please refer to the following article for a detailed troubleshooting/diagnosis procedure:
